Drawn into the exciting world of kabuki theatre, young Akari spends her time after school assisting the famous actor, Shonosuke Ichimura. In the real world, however, this prince of kabuki is actually a high school cutie named Ryusei. The pair's relationship gets off on the wrong foot but eventually, with the help of a cat known as Mr. Ken, the two teenagers fall in love

Backstage Prince is a franchise created by Kanoko Sakurakoji and first seen in the manga magazine Betsucomi , it is made by Viz media and is simply composed of two volumes.  Akari, a protagonist, is a simple and average high school girl.  Although, most of the girls at her high school spend their time mooning over the school's hottie, Ryusei, a young kabuki actor attending their school. Akari, however, fails to see the greatness in this guy.  On a Chance day, she ends up running into Ryusei, once actually hurting him in the occurance on accident. Akari feels terrible for this accident and decides to offer to help him around the theatre until his wound has healed.  Ryusei does not socialize nor does he like to talk to many people, so it was hard for him to agree, but he did once he realized how well she got along with his pet cat.  At the end of the agreement, Akari realizes that agaisnt her own defenses she ended up falling love with Ryusei, luckily, Ryusei felt the exact same.  But, their relationship is constantly being put up to the test,as the demands of Ryusei's career and the dissaproving people out to ruin the love they share.
