Chibi means to be small in stature. In anime/manga the term is used for a character that is small in appearance and exaggerated features. |

A child who is on the same ability level as an older person. This can include things such as skipping grades or talent at an instrument. |

Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated on December the 25th where people often exchange presents. |

Class Representative
The Class Representative is the person who is appointed as the spokesperson for a classroom in certain school committees. They also enforce the rules amongst the students in class. |

Nearly every anime has a comedic moment here or there. Everyone likes to laugh. |

Crazy Driver
Anime characters whose reckless driving makes them a feared presence both to other drivers on the road and the passengers who are along for the ride. Quite often used for gags in comedy anime and manga titles. |

Dreams and Nightmares
The imaginary events that goes on in your head when you are asleep. In some anime's they can bring important messages or to haunt a person. |

Drowning
Drowning is death from suffocation (asphyxia) caused by a liquid entering the lungs and preventing the absorption of oxygen leading to cerebral hypoxia and cardiac arrest. |

Drunk
Someone who loves to consume alcohol, and typically overdoes it. |

Eating
Perhaps the greatest past-time in Anime, eating is often done in more lighthearted moments as a source of humor or as a way of showing togetherness with characters, usually involving characters who can eat insane amounts of food and not gain an ounce. |

A character, often cold and harsh on the outside; but swirling with feelings inside. Much like an igloo, they keep an ice-cold wall, in an ice-cold world; just to protect the warmth inside. |

Lecher
Characters who exercise their strong libidinous desires in unwholesome ways, such as peeping on the objects of their desire, making inappropriate comments, stealing underwear etc. Though typically middle-aged or elderly men with a penchant for young girls, there are probably a few dirty old women out there. |

Moronic character
The kind of character always gets into trouble by his or her bad luck, silliness, and/or cluelessness. A common source of comedy. |

Mother
A woman who has given birth to or raised a child. |

Parents
Someone or something that both has and raises children/offspring. |

Pet
Something that serves as a pet or behaves in the manner of one. |

Pet Owner
Someone who has a pet for a reason. Said owner may either treat the pet like royalty or like dirt. It is not too common for at least one anime/manga character to own a pet or two in a series, even though said pet might possess special powers. |

Rivals
Rivals are competitor to someone. Unlike an enemy, rivals could have similar goals but disagree on the process. |

School Festival
A tradition seen in Japan every year in their school system. The students set up booths for activities or food stands. |

Shyness
When one character has trouble expressing themselves and is very reserved. Usually used in Anime as an endearing quality. |

Sports
A common theme in many mangas and animes. |

Sports Day
Japans equivalent to a field day. |

Student
A Student is one who is enrolled or attends classes at a school, college, or university. A popular theme among many manga and animes. |

Tan Lines
Visible marks on the body that indicate where clothing was worn while the wearer was out in the sun. |

Teacher
A Teacher is a type of person who is in charge of educating others in some form of higher learning or skill. The Japanese title is "Sensei". |

Transfer Student
A new student who comes from another school, they typically come from a mysterious background or they arrive to spark some changes in the story. |

Yuri
A genre of anime/manga featuring girl-on-girl relationships. Although the genre originated in female-targeted works, today it is featured in many male-targeted works as well. |
