Ayano is the heir of the Kannagi family and the holder of Enraiha. She has a problem with anger management.
She´s the daugther of Jugo Kannagi, the elder of the Kannagi´s, and since the successor ceremony the wielder of Enraiha and next family head, it was during this ceremony were she defeated Kazuma Yagami leading Genma Kannagi to expel him from the family. She´s really proud and arrogant and tends to solve everything by brute force. Four years after these events, when some Kannagi family members started to mysteriously die and everybody blamed Kazuma, who had returned as a powerful wind mage, she offered herself to kill him, but is defeated by him with ease. Even when Kazuma is still angered with his family he ends up returning to the Kannagi house to clean his name. There Jugo Kannagi makes a deal with him and to the surprise of Ayano they end up working together. Ayano doesn't trust him at first and sees him as a pervert with no intentions to help her family, but after some time she softens and starts developing feelings towards him.
