Otani is one of the main characters in the Anime/Manga/Drama Lovely Complex.
Otani suffers from a height complex, standing only at 156 Centimeters(5 Ft 1 Inch). Despite his height problem he become the star of the boys basketball club at his school. He is very loud, rude, dense, but he is also, kind, caring, and innocent. He is very sensitive about his height, because his ex-girlfriend Kanzaki broke up with him and started dating a taller boy(The reason wasn't because he was taller, but it still affected Otani).
He has a very odd relationship with his best friend Risa. They always fight and argue, but he is never upset about it(This sort of activity between them caused him to be labeled as part of the "All Hanshin Kyojin", a comedy duo with similar height differences). At the start of the series he makes a friendly wager with Risa to see who could get a girlfriend/boyfriend first. As the series progress she falls in love with Otani, but Otani isn't quite sure how to take his best friend being in love with him.
