Atsushi Ohkubo is a popular shounen manga-ka, and creator of the manga Soul Eater.
Atsushi Ohkubo is a graduate of the Tokyo Animator Institute and former assistant of Rando Ayamine, artist of the popular manga Get Backers. He debuted as a mangaka in his own right in Shounen GanGan's with a one-shot called Kazuyoshi no Ketsu (Kazuyoshi's Knack).
He followed it up in 2002 with his first longer series, B-Ichi, which spanned four volumes. His seminal work to date, however, is 2004's Soul Eater. A fantasy/action manga, it mixes a heavy dose of punk style with some light gothic sensibilities and a lot of humor, making it one of the more popular shounen manga in recent years. In spring 2008 Soul Eater was made into a popular anime.
