Atsuko Urameshi is the unreliable, single mother of Yusuke Urameshi.
Atsuko raised Yusuke by herself, but was largely uninterested in his doings. Still, she has a strong desire for him to reach higher in life then she ever did. She was never married and gave birth to him when she was only fourteen years old. She is frequently smoking and drinking. Yusuke would often find her passed out.
When Yusuke was killed by the car accident. She was devastated. The spirit of Yusuke was rather surprised to see his mother crying so much over his death.
When Atsuko noticed small signs of life in Yusuke's body. She was over joyed. She and Keiko tended to his body until his return to life.
