Assemble! Queen's Blade

Plot Summary

Up in Heaven, Nanael goes over the entire cast list from the last season while taking a bath, she's then called in front of the head angel Seraphim and is told she must fight in the Queen's Blade tournament herself. The only reason she still has a job at this point seems to be that this God is more of the forigiving New Testament kind than the vengeful Old Testament type. As the characters assemble, Nanael continues her tradition of failure by crashing through a church roof and faceplanting into the floor.

Elsewhere, the Vance father curses the tournament from afar. Melona tries to assassinate the current queen by sneaking in as a gelatinous blob, and even manages to squirt some acid in Aldra's face, but for some reason it doesn't seem to affect her at all, and she responds by sealing Melona in amber with her magic powers. Some sort of evil shadow creature says this attack proves Aldra needs a body double in case someone else tries a similar attack. It then conjures up a fake letter and magically delivers it to a naked Risty who just got out of the shower. The contents of the letter provoke Risty to put Queen's Blade aside and try sneaking into the queen's castle to steal something valuable for the orphanage.
