Focus your tentacles on her!
Nagisa is invited to the Aizawas' house for dinner, but upon arriving notices that Ika-Musume is more-or-less getting along with the family, which only freaks her out even more. She decides to not be afraid of Ika-Musume any longer, and Ika briefly storms off now that the one human who was afraid of her is no longer scared. However, Nagisa eventually breaks down and returns to being scared of the squid girl, which only makes Ika even happier as she's smacked across the beach.
Ika-Musume declares herself queen, takes Goro's lifeguard chair through blackmail, and enlists a few people as her servants. One of whom is Cindy Campbell, who pledges to become her servant if she will come to her research lab. Eventually, Ika is forced to come down, but not before fulfilling her end of the bargain with Cindy. She follows her into a surprisingly high-tech lab hidden inside a large cliff, where a few other researchers from MIT have been trying to study alien life and technology but have only come up with trivial things like the cure for cancer. They manage to trick Ika into claiming that she was an alien as "proof" that their research is working.
A squiddle work never killed anyone.
The girl (Ayumi) who appeared before in the fake Ika-Musume mask (see Ep #4) is in the Lemon snack shop, when her father from a competing snack shop down the beach offers a little history: despite (or because of?) being very beautiful, Ayumi chose to wear the mask so as not to draw attention. Eiko responds that she should not have been forced to wear the mask in the first place, as she can work fine with her own real face. The man then offers a contest to let his daughter work at the Lemon while Ika can work at his own shop. Eiko agrees.
At first the Lemon shop sees an uptick in business while Ika is bored being told to stand in as a "sign girl" and do nothing but stand out in front of the shop. However, as the Lemon closes, Ika-Musume discovers that the other shop has a drum set and she begins banging out a wicked drum solo, wondering aloud why she seems to be good at everything except for actually invading humanity.
