But in all seriousness Frieza had no reason to believe that Vegeta was stronger than Appule. Because Vegeta and Nappa worked for Frieza, and Frieza always made sure his employees were weaker than him.

Well we will never know if Appule was stronger than Dodoria, but we do have a reason that favors Appule and that's that Frieza chose to let him watch Vegeta, meaning that Frieza obviously believed Appule to be stronger than Dodoria. Now whether he was or not we will never know. But no matter if he was or wasn't a sayians strength increases when he nears death and recovers as stated in the series. so that means that when Zarbon almost killed him and Vegeta survived that means his strength doubled or tripled or what not. So of course he was able to kill Appule with ease.

wait, you mean that apool is a character? and here i thought it was the name of a race like a "pool" or something.
