What's a Super Duper Mini Review? Well, since I'm taking a break from written reviews, I decided to put a short list of what I liked and didn't like about the shows I review and put down some notes and fun facts as well. For a little info about the show, I copy the Plot Summary from the Anime News Network pages and throw them in the review so the reader can be a little bit informed on what the bases of the show is about. I also borrow some info from Wikipedia as well.

Super Duper Mini Review

Karin
Karin
Karin is an anime show based on the manga Chibi Vampire (aka Karin) created by Yuna Kagesaki.  There are 24 episodes produced by J.C. Staff and directed by Shinichiro Kimura.  The show originally aired  in late 2005 and early 2006 in Japan.

Karin is a high school romantic comedy with a vampire theme.

Plot Summary:

In the 21st century, a family of vampires settled down on the grounds of Japan and lived a modest life whilst sucking on the blood of humans discreetly. However, the eldest daughter of the family, Karin Maaka, has an embarassing secret which cannot be revealed to anyone. Even though she is a vampire, she does not lack blood like her family members. Instead, she overproduces blood to the extent that she transfuses the excess into her victims, hence increasing their blood levels. Despite her troubling body characteristic, she attends school like any other high school student, that is until a new transfer student, Kenta Usui, enters her life.

Pros:
  • A fun twist on the romcom genre.
  • A unique cast of characters to the show that makes it entertaining.  From blood sucking vampires to cheerful moms, they make the show fun.
  • A fun and cheery tone to the show, despite all the blood and blood sucking the show has.
  • The show gets dark from time to time and it's a nice change of pace for the show.
  • I don't know why, but I really liked the ending theme for some reason.  It's nice, calm, and relaxing.

Cons:
  • A slow start.
  • The animation can be a little iffy from time to time.
  • The ending is really cheesy.
