Wow another serires im surprised theirs not much discussion on.Other than some questionable cgi at times it seems a fairly solid anime.Animation is pretty good other than a few real obvious cgi monster famailrs.But its another anime that puts forth the lost ww2 cause of magic story line . or Was a part of the loss at least. Have to wonder the poplarity of that theme .

@Marshal Victory:

It's because of the invisible segregation between front news posters, battle fanatics, and the rest of us and the location that Daniel created for the anime discussion threads. New folks ask me several times, "where are those discussion threads?" They look at the anime series forum page. Nothing's there. That hurts the forum.

To get on topic, I haven't tried the show. I uploaded the snapshots just in case Murphix, our new staff, reviews it. I have been uploading every pilot episode's screenshots for this season. Judging from the caps, it looks like a show I could get into, a supernatural romance show. The CG looks out of place though. The genre combination remind me of Beyond the Boundary and Strike the Blood.

@takashichea: Ya the discussion threads should get a listing off the forum tab click at top of the screen me thinks.I serisouly have animie vice book marked twice just so i dont lose the disucssion threads link now.

Back o topic. The shows fairly solid.It takes its time seting up a surprise an then once you learn it then it becomes a runing inside joke vs the main character.Cgi i dont have to much problem with an after the scorpison familar is gone i dont see to much of it now. It just they should at least try to fit the cgi to the shows animation style. If its ment to stick out thats fine if its consistant. like all the famialrs were cgi like.

Starting tho to become a noticable fixation for me .Cars done well i understand but when some things just look worse than a video game equvilent that seems sloppy.Not sure if they understand grafic wise when you do cgi the comparison to video games is right there.Or if its just me that sees a easy comparison.

Even with its odd cgi chioce i think its a fine series so far.Awsome fall 2013 season.

Been meaning to watch this show, glad to hear good things from it.

Post by Marshal Victory (1,916 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@Sonata: Ya should its not bad at all. Not sure which angle its trying for . At 5 were almost in a high school magic anime type thing.Its already doen two mistaken gender bits with same character .Not sure if its trying to turn comedy or not.Up to 4 it felt very dark actiony 4 an 5 feels more high schoolish. worth a watch for sure tho animation has goten better to. the summoned stuff tho cgi do not stick out as much .

Post by Marshal Victory (1,916 posts) See mini bio Level 13

So at 6 its not your typical high school shonen but its got some intresting twists. Your nomral secret societies ,an magic abound. it plays off the comic angle for her bing a him in school an no one else but the main 3 should know.It then plays off the main character being denser than the guy from Walkure Romanze: Shojo Kishi Monogatari.So with that i think this is the season of dim to dense male leads..

So far two secret societies .two secrets an a nice bit of story with some style here an there.Good series dont regret watcing a episode.

Since Marshal hit two posts, I'm obligated to bump this thing. I haven't watch it yet.

I didn't expect this shot in the episode gallery.

@takashichea:Thanks.

7 their is a ogre eater an i think hes voiced by same guy that does Accelerator from A Certain Magical Index etc. Nobuhiko Okamoto

If not the voice actor is doing a good impresination of him.

Also echi just happens in this show .No ryme no reason.Random acts of ecchi.

@Marshal Victory:

It's light on ecchi. I think I'll enjoy this. Need to try the first episode.

Post by Marshal Victory (1,916 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@takashichea: Yeah i agee its not hard core like Walkure Romanze that goes the extra distance. Its just totaly random in Tokyo Ravens .Just thought id put out that warning to those um sensitive to such things.Its a pretty decent series animation other than the cgi not fiting the shows art style from time to time is pretty good.It uses chibi at the end of the show.An plot wise it moves along at a decent pace.Id say another good 70% chance youd like it.

Post by Marshal Victory (1,916 posts) See mini bio Level 13

By 9 the cgi goes with the seires style enuff.We have some plot an character development.It doesnt feel genric at all now.Reminds me of Zetsuen no Tempest: The Civilization Blaster 1st season which was prety good.At times it also reminds me of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan which i enjoyed as well.

Only draw back is like K you end up with many characters subplots to follow .So if any one likes any of theose 3 anime this would be a good recomend for them i belive.

Um 11 almost feels like filler so thats not good but it was a fine episode.People seem to like the series on other boards to.So gota wonder where this will go.

Bump for Marshall who hit 2 posts. I still need to watch this show. The only thing I remember from the first episode was CG, love triangle, and some blonde who loves phallic shaped food.

@takashichea: Its really not a triangle since two of the people are the same person.An the other girl is just doing it for atention i think.

13 was pretty good .Bit dramatic slow pacing.But it did hold some wisdom."the worst lie is the one you tell your self.Its like a curse." From the persons point of view thats pretty acurate.But from every one elses stand point its the lie you tell them is worse.I like it when anime has little bits like that to ponder over.

14 was the payoff of the previous 13.Epic in many ways.An we stil have 10 or so to go!

edit

15 was with out action. But built on things to come. Next episode should have a fair amount of action.

@takashichea: 16 was good ya still watching this?

@Marshal Victory:

Bumped for you. I haven't had the time to watch it.

Brought some news articles since I can't find a magazine spread for this series:

The final manga is a spin-off of Kouhei Azano's Tokyo Ravens light novel, titled Tokyo Ravens -Girls Photograph-. Kōji Yokoyama is drawing the manga with scripts by Touko Machida. The manga focuses on the female characters in the series.

@takashichea: Hmm intresting.

At 17 it seems alot of back stabing is going on. Bit hard to keep up with whoes who for me atm. Still intresitng fights an good animation. They mostly use full cgi on metal looking monsters. the rest now look bit more like the animation style to now.

Harutora reminds me a bit of Dr. Strange in this one to.

@Marshal Victory:

I did watch a bit of Tokyo Raven. Figured out that his childhood friend (who's a familiar) is actually the purple haired priest. Our blond, male protagonist, Harutora, is dumb as bricks. Yeah, I'm too lazy to look up the names. Plus, I'm bad with them, too.

After 2 episodes, I think I'll watch this show, but I'm really behind you Marshall. Plus, I can only watch in the weekends.

Post by Marshal Victory (1,916 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@takashichea: Its well worth a marathon. Animation gets better an teh story gets more depth. Maybe to deep at times with so many factions. Ya Harutora is clueless but he starts to wake up an when he does its awsome. they mix the high school magic with alot of secret politics. I put it just under Valvrave the Liberator for surprises an style. An when its bloody its bloody.
