This is probably my most anticipated show this season because the manga was pretty good, also from the same person who made Ga-Rei (which also got an anime, though as a prequel to the main story).

Not the most, but the one I'm personally looking forward to, though finding that Studio Xebec's behind the production is a bit concerning.

Pilot was holly crap am I missing a episode! It just kicked into high gear real fast. Got the back story fairly fast. But this might be the fastest plot set up this season.

Also super hero me thinks should be added to the tags for the show. It has that kinda vibe. Comments on few other sites run the same way like something is missing. Some are saying next episode it the set up? Some also are saying this started right around chapter 30 of the manga? @DocHaus: that sound right to you?

The hype is real in this Tokyo series. This episode was seriously fast pace, the animation was great and the powers were all interesting. I am definitely looking forward to this show.

Pretty good shit so far. Some quality animation and the gore in the fight scenes instantly drew comparisons in my mind to this season's other show with Tokyo in the title. After 1 epp in I'm pretty interested in both Tokyo esp and ghoul. Hope the other titles can keep pace, if they can it might pan out to be an ok season.

I also heard they opted to skip the plot heavy introductory stuff for the first epp and go with action right away to hook the viewers who might not be familliar with the source material before getting into explaining stuff. Mahouka could take some lessons here.

Best pilot of the bunch so far.

Finally got around to seeing the actual episode...even if they did want to draw people in with an action-heavy chapter, this felt like the wrong way to go about it, especially when they spent a third or so of the episode transplanting some main characters from Ga-Rei Zero into the show for no real reason except to say "Hey, the same person did this story too!" It's like introducing Bakuman by having Light and L compete against each other in a Light Novel contest and only to get beaten off-screen by the main character just as the pilot episode ends.

2nd episode was solid. Some are griping more now how the 1st episode gives away alot. Because manga pace was a then b then c . An the pilot put c before a. Knowing how things play out is not always a bad thing for a plot. It becomes who an why an how. Sure that takes the drama out of it. But since I never read the manga this works for me. An if you have read it then this will feel different.

Tho I will agree different is not a harbinger of good.

I'm a little lost going from epp 1 to 2.

Still entertaining but I think they could have done a better job adapting the source material. I haven't read the Manga but I'd bet it introduces stuff much more coherently than what we've seen. I know they tried to hook ppl immediately with the action in the first epp, but by the time of episode 2 I've already forgotten all the characters except white hair girl.

I also heard they put in a cameo in episode 1 of a character from another series the mangaka did or something, but I could be mistaken I didn't really look into it. Anybody know?

3 was solid. Nice amount of homage an hat tips in it. From Superman , Ghost Busters to Wolverine it went wide on its homage rampage. Even a bit of Uncle Ben's speech to Peter Parker is in there. But no knock off of plot or story line.

Vibe from this series reminds me alot of http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Cards-I-Trust/dp/0765326159/ref=cm_lmf_tit_2 Not sure if it will get as epic or long as that book series but its a great ride so far.

@hitsusatsu11: Um @DocHaus: already mentioned it. They were from Ga-Rei Zero the world is the same for both series.

Post by DocHaus (928 posts) See mini bio Level 18

@Marshal Victory: Actually, the world is different, it was just an homage that wasn't in the manga but Xebec threw it in anyway because of reasons.

Having said that, you will notice similarities in the ways some characters look. One of the police detectives, for example: same appearance as a pair of identical-twin exorcists in the Ga-Rei verse, but totally different character underneath.

Post by Marshal Victory (1,962 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@DocHaus: Hmm others sites have people claiming its tied together, but I'll believe you as you have read them. But Xebec may be trying to tie them together in their anime verse so to speak? Did read the anime was of Ga-Rei Zero was not true to the manga. So liberties are taken it seems.

Read one good description tho. It has heavy Xmen traits. As the two main characters are similar to Night Crawler and Kitty Pride. Then again we can say that about parts of Darker than Black to. So were back to liberties being taken again :/

Oh this show is so good, Asuma is a badass in his own way, taking out all those goons with a bat and then shooting that guy in the leg.

Asuma can give Kuroko Shirai a challenge.

Rinka took an ass beating but she still ready to fight, even while injured and she took out her father who I might add looks like a younger heihachi.

Also it seems that the girl with the penguin will get some powers in the next episode.
