Welcome to the Spring 2014 Anime Seasonal Guide! My teammates and I prepare lots of discussion threads for you guys and gals packed with awesome trailers. Check the synopsis and click on the links to view them and hit those discussion threads. Let us know what shows make your watch list for this spring!

Unfortunately, my teammate Acura was busy with things, so we don't have preliminary impressions from him. Here are BigHeart711 and my thoughts on what was interesting to us this season.

BigHeart711

For me, the shows that I will check out are Mekaku City Actors, Lady Jewelpet, Soul Eater Not, and M3. While Mekaku and M3 seem to have some edge due to their synopses, Soul Eater Not and Lady Jewelpet seem like the most fun ones there in the coming season. The others that I may pick due to interest up are Chaika - The Coffin Princess, Nanana's Buried Treasure, PUCHIM@S 2, and Insufficient Direction. Although, the PUCHIM@S creatures do look like they came out of someone's nightmares... Just a thought.

Takashichea

I had my eye on the new Fairy Tail series, Irregular at the Magical High School, and World is Still Beautiful. For World is Still Beautiful, I find the age gap interesting, an older woman and a younger man in an arrange marriage. Irregular's art style is attractive, and I fail to read the synopsis to realize the couple in the poster is a brother holding his sister. Suffering from Pupa and Recently, My Sister is Unusual experiences, I tread this anime with caution. Finally, I'm all hyped for the new Fairy Tail series after a year long hiatus. It was my first big series that got me into Anime Vice.

Thank you everyone.

However, when Nike meets him for the first time, she finds to her surprise that he is a boy younger than she is. Livius abruptly asks Nike to call forth the rain, and when she refuses, he has her thrown in jail. The story follows the two who, while at first are a married couple only in name, gradually begin to establish an emotional bond with one another.

I'm such a scatterbrained person. I forgot to mention our sources. The summaries all came from Anime News Network, Crunchyroll, Neregate, and Wikipedia. It's thanks to them. Stay tuned for the simulcast guide. I know this article was late. Sorry, it took a while to figure what was confirmed officially for the season since some sources had more while others had less shows featured on their lists.

I'll get to work on the simulcast for you guys and gals. Let me know if there is any corrections. I did my best to double check the guide. I owe thanks to for double checking the guide. I forgot to add Dragon Ball Z Kai, Notari, and Fairy Tail on that Sunday. Without him, those three shows would be missing from this list.

I had no idea Keroro was coming back. I'll have to check that out now. I was anticipating Fairy Tail just to see how the production has changed. Not really interested in keeping up with it though.

I'm still waiting on Sailor Moon too. Seems like the most delayed series in recent memory.

@Lurkero:

I had to remove Sailor Moon a couple of times from previous seasons. It was a bit annoying. Then, we got some official news about it being pushed to the summer. Hopefully, it stays that way. Same for Sword Art Online season 2 but to a lesser extent, link.

For Fairy Tail, the animation looks a lot better. You might or not like the art style, but the animation has improved.

Edit:

I'm hoping Soul Eater Not! gets legal simulcast.

@takashichea: Animation on Fairy Tale is better but the cute aspect of it is downplayed. It almost feels like some one copying another's style an are close but not all the way there. For some it might take a bit to get used to. But they do pull the long term viewers leg a little at 1st. Which I liked on retrospect.

Ok so book marking this in Opera. An will use this guide to find discussion threads about said anime as a master list for the xdiscussions.

Beyond the new season of Mushishi, my mind's drawing blanks on what I'm likely to watch this season as there isn't anything in particular that sticks out greatly for me.

So far

Captain Earth - Like star driver but less flamboyant.

Love live season 2 - More Love live.

@Marshal Victory:

My main gripe with the new art style for Fairy Tail is the eyes. They're huge and placed awkwardly. Someone said it was supposed to mirror the manga's art style. What I like about the art style is the hips and boobs. Not to be perverted, the old art style was unproportional. Lucy's body was inconsistent over the series. Unlike Nami, who grew in a linear fashion. Lucy was erratic. The coloring reminds me of the movie. The old Fairy Tail's animation declined after Tenrou Island arc. Things were blurry and animated poorly. I have hopes for this series.

Oh, I do see your point on the cuteness factor. The old style was cuter.

Props to all the hard work on making this. These guides and charts (although even finding charts is too much work for me these days) are really useful in deciding what to add to my queue for eventual checking out.

Really interested in:

  • Insufficient Direction
  • Mekaku (Shaft is super hit or miss for me, but I'll give anything they make a shot)

Curious:

  • Blade & Soul
  • Chiaka
  • DBZ Kai (I'll watch if it starts from where it ended last time)
  • Haikyu (solely because it's a sports anime by the same people that animated Kuroko's Basketball, which was godly)
  • Kindaichi (I get a 20 Faces/Himitsu Revelation vibe from this)
  • M3
  • One Week Friends
  • Ping Pong (especially if they don't generic up the art and it actually looks like the image used in the guide)
  • The Comic... ("Ashisu would do anything for the work—she will even let him touch her breast so he will know how it feels" I'll have to give this a shot just to see if they go straight ecchi or if it's somewhat serious. The art style doesn't look like your typical porny series)

This sounds kinda crappy but damn, look at the studios involved:

  • Broken Blade
  • Captain Earth
  • Fairy Tail (A-1 does great work and reading Taka's post it seems like they've changed the art style and are maybe trying to turn over a new leaf with this show so I'll give it a shot. I only dropped the old ones because the action looked really crappy and couldn't balance out all of the power of friendship and sad child stuff that works my nerves.)

It's really strange how a series as popular as Sailor Moon hasn't even gotten a real trailer yet. As far as I know there haven't even been images released.

Oh, and right before I replied to your comment I came across the announcement of Soul Eater Not simulcast http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-04-07/funimation-to-stream-soul-eater-not-and-riddle-story-of-devil

@Lurkero:

Awesome, hoping for Crunchyroll at first. I'm cool with FUNimation, but I'll be watching it on HULU (I assumed HULU grabs anything FUNimation streams within the same time frame).

Thanks, I'll edit and update the wiki page.

@Marshal Victory:

So far, I got into these shows:

  • Captain Earth
  • Brynhildr in the Darkness
  • The Irregular at a Magical High School
  • The World Is Still Beautiful
  • Blade and Soul
  • Kawai Complex
  • Fairy Tail of course

Shows I want to Try

  • Soul Eater Not
  • M3
  • Dragonar Academy
  • Chaika
  • Comic Artist
  • Black Bullet
  • Atelier
  • Knights of Sidonia
  • Broken Blade

Lolis

@takashichea: LOL it actually works but i was also thinking of brother and sister team as well.
Post by Bigheart711 (4,204 posts) See mini bio Level 21

@takashichea: I knew there were more lolis than I thought this season. XD They really don't bother me like they did in the past anymore since I ended up playing a deck in Vanguard where some of them are about (one was an ace card that kept dealing extra damage to my opponents and pissing them off). Also, the last pic is several kinds of wrong.

@takashichea: I dont recognize the first and third pics where are they from?

Also enju best girl
