Pilot was solid. Mech design an gear looked real enuff. Then the I am guessing main character gets the white one in the pics. Which is like the modern mechs designs that lok more armor on a human than mech to me. But so far good enuff me thinks.

EDIT: Many comments on how generic it looks on other sites. Here I was happy that the mechs look almost Mechwarror or realistic. So ya its gona be one of those betwen generations on mechs. The slow realistic ones vs the new humaniod armored looking ones.

@Marshal Victory:

Hopefully, I have time to try out this mech series and the other one, Aldnoah.Zero. I admit Captain Earth didn't attract me like Valvrave did. I guess Valvrave's shock factor and many other things appeal to me. Being a new mech fan, I just don't know what stuff in a mech series appeal to me. I'm willing to try anything.

@takashichea: Captain Earth was a different style of story than Valvrave. Heck it almost had a kids feel to it at times. I stopped at 9 on it an will probably finish off the season at some point. But that alone keeps me from giving it high marks for what it is. It even has its own team rocket clone :/ So its ment to be a lighter story.

Now Silver Will Argevollen feels like a war story. An it unlike Captain Earth has blood in it. Not as much as Tokyo Ghoul but some. Knocks from people on it so far is its generic. Big Macs are to but people eat them every day. It just depends on how the story plays out really. Design wise the mechs look not like normal mechs in modern day anime. Which look more like a armored shell over a human. The regular ones look like something that could work in real life. Think that they are slow threw people to.

Overall it looks like a good start. To early to call me thinks if it will be a bland story or not.

Watched it. It was okay. Clearly the old farts that left have no compassion for their own men and were willing to let them all die without a sorry. Hate characters like that. Even people. I'd just say go f#$k yourself! I would never die for people like that, nor the rich. If you're in power, you best give me a damn good reason to go to war for you other than to get more resources from others. Only way I see it, if there was an alien invasion, that way I'd KNOW what I was fighting for. - Random tangent

@Marshal Victory:

I'll try the show. Why are you talking about Big Macs? Captain Earth doesn't sound interesting. We'll see.

@takashichea: Was trying to riff on how people on other sites were saying ( in mass actually ) that the show seemed generic. Even if it is generic is popular like the Big Mac is generic for fast food but popular. Also I was hungry when I typed that!

@Supreme Marvel: Think the commander they left righted the orders. Live an retake, not die to the last man. Usually will see those generals tune hummed along less than free peoples. Which makes this interesting as our group of characters are on the side thats to be liberated if the other sides speech was correct.

Also are ya heard this quote before " No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

George S. Patton

Yeah those "generals" in this pilot would not be worth a lead slug. An sure don't measure up.

@Marshal Victory:

I finished the first pilot. At least, with children and teenagers doing the mech thing, this didn't do the how does a kid know how to pilot a mech without any prior experience thing. It was generic like they said. Even though it didn't bring anything new, it didn't make me mad or bored with it. I was okay with the pilot, so I'll continue to watch it.

Saw The Pilot. The only thing I can say is "Meh". I agree that it's Pretty Generic And kinda reminds me of Gundam Seed(a bad entry in the gundam series. still popular though). Don't think I'm gonna continue watching it.

2nd episode was much better. Decent use of tension as well as action with a side order of tactics.

@Marshal Victory:

It was a slow episode, but I didn't mind it. Shows the main character and his *ahem future love interest. Every time I see a mech and war genre together, what do they all have in common besides teenagers and their angst, LOVE.

@takashichea: Ya tension if not seen in right light feels like slow an not drama just slow. To me the tension felt about right but was really really sick yesterday to so drying paint may have seemed like tension to me as well!

Ya the other female officer kinda hinted at that to didn't she? I mean he is the key to her mech.

@Marshal Victory:

I like the main character. He isn't like Shinji of NGE and Haruto of Valvrave. He took it like a man. Want to bet the female soldier with the mole likes the commander/ or general/ or captain (I'm not good with military ranking)?

Post by Marshal Victory (2,288 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@takashichea: Naw thats a safe bet. Um not sure of his rank now that I think about it believe they called him commander? He lead well tho.

3rd episode was not bad. Few things of note about the show.

1st the pilot main character is not the god send knows how to do it all ace. He makes mistakes an if it was not for his unit he would be dead. at least twice by my count now maybe three times dead.

2nd the mech he pilots is not the end all uber extreme perfect war machine. Yes it is different an fast but he has almost died in it an with out the help of his unit he would have.

3rd the attacking army " can not believe they would go this far." comment was funny. There are concrete slabs set to blow in some parts of the world to block road travel right now. The cant believe they would go so far to what protect them selves? The attacking army seems more sinister as the series goes on.

The 1st two points offset any generic feel the series has to me. The "hero" is not a ace pilot. An his unit has saved his arse more times than not.

@takashichea: Um it could be a bad sub thing.. or translation thing. In one episode the units leader was called .. Captain , Lieutenant an pretty sure Commander. So either hes really higher ranking than his unit knows. Or was higher ranking an busted down. Or its a translation snafu.

@Marshal Victory:

Translator may not have a good grasp on military ranking and jargon. Haven't seen the 3rd episode yet. I comment later.

@Marshal Victory:

Being a hero is going to get his comrades kill. He is a soldier, but he hasn't mature or been broken by war yet. I admire his tenacity to save as much lives as possible. I feel like the general or captain is like a foil to him.

Episode 4 was all about revenge. Revenge of the white censor fog! Revenge of the unit vs the main character. Heck for a bit I thought we was gonna see something rare. But it went half way. We learn the main character is out for revenge. The engineer wants revenge for her " new" job. Yes revenge is in the air!

While it did not add a lot of new things to the gene, it did do things well in this episode. An yes the hq guy from the mechs company must be akin to the devil with glasses from Log Horizon. He stole the episode.

Didn't expect this show to have nude scenes with light beam censorship. I mean Valvrave was ecchi. Slow episode but it help build the characters.

@takashichea: Well, the studio certainly has plenty of those types of shows to its name. On-topic, I did appreciate that Tokimune's teammate's were willing to call him out on his bullshit this time around. "Hey, you remember how every single time you run off we almost get killed? Stop doing that!"
