Now, we have aliens even the characters are surprised as much as us. It just pulling out random things now.
@takashichea: Well the from beyond thing I thought was aliens any way. But they are puling no punchs because the script is punch drunk. Or something like that. Determined now to watch the whole series. As the wroter tends to twist things at the end in his other anime.
18 was heavly influanced by Marvel comics. It had its own sorta cosimic cube an Beyonder. Was not sold half way threw but it had such charme for me by the end of the episode i liked it. Tho the series is not over. Like so many episodes this would have been a good stoping point.
Edit some are saing it had shades of Ultraman in it to.
I didn't like that episode. I was confused. They reason that this was all Masayoshi's desire. The whole evolution just didn't make sense to me. I do get them assimilating so everyone's minds are the same. This will prevent evil and such.
@takashichea: Usualy when a story starts out so grounded then goes all galactic like ,well it feels off any way. There is a bit of that in there for me to. But seeing where they were homaging kinda helps.
Also see Tom's review on the episode. It might make more sence that way to. But like i said when you go from a guy fighting in the streets to bing cosmic big it has a wth quality to it .
Finally get to see his girlfriend only to find out she was missing. Can't blame the guy who cannot let go his past love. That young boy from the early episodes showed up with the exact quote. Now, we get some action. I thought they had ran out of stuff in this anime.
I would have prefer King Torture. Having a stalker or a mental apparition was pretty scary. Part of this reminds me of Robin's Slade hallucination (in the Teen Titans cartoon series).
That did remind me of the Joker. The way he says you need me and I need you.
@takashichea: One of the grafic novels I recomend often is http://www.amazon.com/Batman-The-Dark-Knight-Returns/dp/1563893428/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1394922856&sr=8-3&keywords=the+dark+knight+returns
An in it you have this whole psycobable about its because of Batman the Joker has to try an be evil. Its because Why Batman project that onto other they do the things they do. Joker has some lines in it but it felt like part of that kids speech came right from the book.
Series end was not bad tho I could have done with out Naked Flaminco. Which on retrospect may have been a tweek at those bromance theories in super hero shows. The world slowly goes back to the way it was, people littler the streets an crime comes back so there is always a need for heroes.
Just on the deconstruction scope of the gene it makes my above average list. Its not one i would own on dvd but something that i would marathon again to see all of the parts as a whole an how they work. Not for people who don't like to look at the larger meta conversation that stories present.
You know Goto never said no or yes to Masayoshi's marriage proposal. Part of the "Baka" scene from Masayoshi, I think it was a homage to BlazBlue's Noel scene with Ragna. Ragna was voiced by Tomokazu Sugita who did Goto's role as well. The cellphone part in Goto reminds me he never gives up. The series had a lot of fun and memorable moments.
My little sister who was a fan of Read or Die, Hideyuki Kurata's work saw that Haji scene of killing himself very similar to the scene where a fan would try to rape his favorite author to make her scarred.
