Riddle Story of Devil (悪魔のリドル Akuma no Riddle)
Riddle Story of Devil (悪魔のリドル Akuma no Riddle)
2nd an 3rd episode were good to great.
A lot going on in the back grounds an texts an phone calls. Dice seem to be a theme for the series .
Manga this is drawn from inspired a social game for Japanese phones. Not sure if its something id play reminds me of some of the text stuff The Secret World did tho. But this sounds creepy .
That poor glasses girl just sucks at assassinations. Well at least she's good at making diagrams.
Glasses girl and her mentor are supposed to be part of some Catholic assassin group, hence the rosary and nuns, yet im pretty sure they were reading Martin Luthers proverbs. Interesting.
I watched 2 episodes. It reminds me of The Severing Crime Edge where you're a freak/murderer protecting this innocent girl from these other freaks.
I can't help but say this. There is a bit of double standard in portraying a dominant female cast. It's good to see them, but when they get objectified with fan service, it loses meaning. That's why the likes of She-Ra and Korra are better representations of female characters for fans who want to see empowerment of female characters. Riddle Story does good, but it falls short.
Now that you put it that way, I feel guilty about bring up She-Ra. I agree with you that She-Ra was marketed towards female audience. I can't think of any positive female characters in anime that isn't sexualized. Look at Sailor Moon. Showing her legs. Just kidding. She's a fine character. I just forgot about her.
How are you enjoying this series? I only got into episode 2. Going to watch some more episodes in the weekend to catch up and do more Jojo marathon.
I know you are helping to promote the discussions after getting back to the Vice, and I saw your comment Dream's thread about cutting down on anime. I appreciate it. For me, I watch as much as I can and bump discussion threads for Marshal who watches way more anime than me. It's a shame that we can't get more folks. this past semester, I have heavily targeted the battle forums because it's the most active forum. There are folks watching the new shows. It's hard to get them on there if
A) They don't know where the discussion threads are. We moved from wiki forum to the #Anime Vice Discussion Threads. I still encounter folks who are lost. I blame it on the structure of the site. There is a lack of interest in the show (front page and forums) leading them to assume there is no discussion on the topic.
B) Shonen series pretty much dominate the battle forums. Most folks are not up to speed with new shows.
Here are my suggestions:
That's all I can think of. I can see why you're under the impression of we just talk about the episodes from our comments.
Back on topic, I like Tokaku Azuma's bad ass character. The girl with the pocky (can't remember her name) oddly reminds me of Kyoko Sakura of Madoka Magica.
I'm late I'm late... well missed 3 so had to watch 3 & 4 back to back.
Few things I think. The teacher knows more than the students an is in on it. Think to the girl that being defended is also a assassin or from a assassin family.
@hitsusatsu11: I'm the one guilty of posting per episode. It helps me keep track of what I have watched an at the end of the season what should go on the average an above list I have going. Tho more than happy to discuss what the series is similar to etc. @takashichea: is right about how this similar to The Severing Crime Edge tho minus a hair fetish or two. Tho will disagree She-Ra was a good role model for girls. Ones I knew in grade school ( yes the show was on when i was in graded school im that old ) hated the cartoon an hated being called She -Ra.
back to the series.
Also think the key chain bobble thing she gave out is not the foreshadow that they will come after her. Bit early for a pattern in the series but seems to be one so far.
@Marshal Victory: NP, I post per epp to. I just meant im sounding like a broken record because I generally give a fairly positive analysis of almost every epp of every show this season. But its not intentional this is just a rrly strong season imo, and gatari hasnt even started airing yet.
One thing about this show in particular i like are the stunning visuals, especiallly the contrast between dark and colorful, some of the best of the season
@Marshal Victory: @hitsusatsu11:
I caught up to you guys. This show is definitely on my watch list. I just dropped Dai Shogun from my watch list this season.
This set up with having a large cast in the first episode and then cutting one person or a few each episode reminded me of Danganronpa: The Academy of Hope and the High School Students of Despair style. What's that trope name when you have that story style? There are benefits and flaws with the style. You get some background on the characters, but it's short lived.
