Is it just going to be a special Or will it be an entirely new series? Marie's arc didn't take up enough time to justify a new series IMO.

Seen the pilot an read a bit about it. Its kind of a mix of movie an the original series. It takes some different turns an side stories. Not sure if all new animation but if not older animation with movie polish seems about right. Not bad it moves along pretty good.

An if you watched the 1st series then you catch the side story sifts fairy quick. As well as " new" characters. Or older characters with different traits.

This series is a new game +, Izanagi was nowhere near that powerful in the beginning of the game.

I'm actually watching the first anime series, Persona 4: The Animation. Don't mind me. I eventually catch up with you guys for the newer series.

I think I like this show. Pilot wasn't bad.

This was a very good first episode.

This first part had peeked my interest.

Oh god them teeth. XD

Ghastly use lick attack.

Uchiha clan Take notes. This is Izanagi

God I love Tsunderes, But this girl would be a very good poet.

This scene came right after Yu called her Stylish and she went all Tsundere on him. Way to be subtle guys. lmao

@takashichea: If you have a PS2 or Vita, I'd suggest playing the game before watching the series

I thought as much after seeing so much of these type of anime series. With every video game based anime adaptation, the video game is superior due to multiple reasons.

  • The anime has to promote the video game to new fans while trying to appeal to video game fans.
  • The anime can be faithful, but it cannot show everything a video game has. A video game can focus on multiple characters and develop their routes. An anime cannot do that. They can only focus on some characters and cut out stuff. The anime will end being rushed and unpolished.
  • For those who are acquainted with the game, they can be lost in the anime if the game has such a convoluted plot. Example would be BlazBlue Alter Memory where I got lost on the first episode.

If I get some time from work and Anime Vice's mod duties, I will try out the game one day.

Ep 1 was hype! I really enjoyed the sakura blossoms at the beginning. That stealth hand shake with Morooka was brilliant... Izanagi's entrance has never been so hype! Chie actually getting licked by a Hablerie, as opposed to just getting hit with the tongue in the video game, that was cool.

Only thing that felt odd was how they introduced Marie after the credits ended. It felt like they really wanted to separate her from the rest of the cast and action.

For me I watched the P4 Endurance Run on Giantbomb back in the day. Then I watched some of a P3FES playthrough on youtube before finally playing P3FES myself. Then I watched the P4A when it came out two years ago. And only a few months ago did I finally download and play P4 (ps2 version) for myself. So I have a lot of respect for this series, and how the story, characters and gameplay is structured!

However, since I don't have a Vita and haven't played P4G, everything about Marie is completely new to me. I'm interested to see how they implement her with the rest of the story... because if the 1st ep is any indication it doesn't look like it will mesh very well. Reminds me of Elizabeth from P3, she was a really interesting character, but it was just another side social link, which didn't have too much bearing on the main action. We'll see how Marie impacts the rest of the story in P4GA.

2nd episode was pretty good. An were saying you could fit it between 8 an 9 of the animation one. But to me the main character feels different. Hes more the jock than in the animation. This episode should remind any guy who gets his 1st ride how its not a chick magnet.

Not played the games an odds of me playing them are very low. Do not own a console nor vita nor plan to.

Haha and the lesson of Ep2 is don't try to do too much at once, and there is no 'easy' way of making friends or girlfriends. I really enjoyed the opening Velvet Room scene with Marie's poetry. Kana Hanazawa is doing a pretty great job voicing Marie.

It looks like the series is focusing on Marie and her involvement with the rest of the cast. This episode is also hilarious because, in the game, you would NOT be allowed to double book social links. Basically you only get to do one activity during the day, then one activity in the evening. In this episode Yu tried to with nearly 7 characters! (Yukiko, Chie, Ebihara, Marie, Kanji and Yosuke). In the game there are some special group events that allow you to with multiple characters, but those are few and far between.

This was a very bright and energetic episode, a lot more slice of life than the first episode. We didn't even hear anything about the murders or the TV world, or Kuma. It'll be interesting to see how future episodes deal with the TV world. You know.. I don't even remember if the first episode established the whole kidnapping plot, with finding the dead body and Saki-sepai... =o But I do remember only Yu got his persona power.

Haha maybe it's better to think of this like a New Game+, where the player only really cares about s.linking and is just plowing through the dungeons. That's a really interesting storytelling decision, because without the TV world and kidnapping plot, Persona becomes all about s.linking and telling stories with the characters.

The clothing outfits for Chie and Ebihara was fun, nice to see them out of their typical game clothes... hehe green and red...

Ah the days of our youth, a fleeting time that we will all cherish for the rest of our lives.

Even amnesia can't come between this feeling.

Episode 3 was the perfect episode for me.

Episode 2 of the first season

I admit I wasn't paying attention when I was watching. It was nice to see the spotlight on another character. If it's like Devil Survivor 2: The Animation, the kids will get their own Persona.

Ep3 was nice. The opening poetry continues to be fun. I like how they set up Marie asking each of the cast what it means to face yourself, first showing each of the characters being surprised by the question. Then only after they leave the house to see the fireworks, does Dojima accidentally turn on the camera, and we get to see their full answers. Nice that they decided to have Marie silent and the question asked via text. Firstly it would have been too repetitive to ask and record Marie saying the question over and over again to different characters. Second it mirrors how the player would ask a question to characters when playing the game. In a way, Marie briefly took over the role of the player as she went around to each character, silently pressed X to ask them a question and waited for them to reply. xD

On the whole, ep3 basically showed that Marie is not so different from the others. She is trying to find where she belongs and what it means to hang out and have fun with friends, friends who accept each other for who they are. I wonder if Marie will ever recover her 'old' memories, or if she will just press forward making new memories with the new friends she has!

I guess I'm happy they're not just retelling the story with the kidnapping plot, personas, the TV world and everything, instead taking this opportunity to focus on Marie, while also staying true to the social lessons of Persona4. But I kind of hope eventually they leave the P4 universe behind. You can only retell the same stories and morals for so long before it starts getting stale. But eh, maybe that's just a more personal insecurity than any problem with the anime or P4 universe itself.

This series is so character driven, I am seriously just sitting back and enjoying this show.

We finally see Naoto after five episodes and we get a pretty good concert.

Marie is being Tsundere again. "I'm not going to say hello, goodbye okay." XD

Next episode I believe the plot will start to go towards the action direction, or at least that is what I thought that whole ending with Marie seeing that guy from the roof was.
