episode 23 of kingdom of magic was insane. all of the Djinn from the kou empire, Alibaba and Kounen combining their magic. this episode gets a 4.5/5
Also Gokuren being in the episode was a plus, I love that psycho.
Kouen stomping on Alibaba was the most random thing besides Aladdin drinking milk from a cow. The whole episode wasn't serious, but it was a mock battle showing off Kouen. That was it. The other Kou Empire siblings are there for show.
I find it strange they use barbie doll censorship in this episode compared to the previous episodes. Aniplex is releasing the 2nd set. I'm curious about the dub and if they censor Paimon or not.
Yeah, I'm sad to see it end. It's for the best since the manga hasn't ended yet. It caught up fast. It's unusual for an anime series to have 2 breaks and cover over 100 chapters in just 50 episodes. Magi is outselling manga and anime well in Japan and the states.
After this winter season, I'm looking forward to Fairy Tail. From one Shonen series to the next, I'm so revved up!
@takashichea: Well i think they are trying to have their cake an eat it to. Atract those who liked the manga for its bloody content an then water it down for the Disney crowd. Usualy that ends up with half a loaf any way. In case ya cant tell its lunch time here.
But i digress, wish they would stay true to source material. Or start slaping that adapted tag on these things. Like the one they are doing for the Noah movie. heck i would feel alot better watching something knowing at least they are honest about what it is. If magi went the Attack on Titan route it would have had much higher ratings. Tho im not sure what tv block this is on that might be a factor as well.
That reminds to add the manga differences for the wiki. I did remember my Magi Wikia editors saying it was a lot of padding in this episode.
The animation in Attack on Titan is great, but I remember one of the folks posted pics of some bad animated shots. I assume Wit Studio probably struggle financially. What airs on TV eventually gets upgraded and refined for Blu-Ray and DVD format.
Well some of the gripes of last season are here. You have a ton of new characters or old ones you dont recognize at once. You have a big epic battle that kinda doesnt feel epic. Maybe epic lite? I do like the design of the hand head thing tho. So the flash forward we seen at the start of the season were well past but it feels like somethings missing? Or can i blame meds im on atm for that?
Agreed with you. Magi's pumping out characters and not really doing much on them. Sinbad's group will get attention in the separate manga series: Adventure of Sinbad and the new OVA special. I know Bleach had a ton of characters, but they did do spotlights on them during major arcs, not including the fillers.
Instead of using their parents, they should have brought Sinbad's generation. The power scaling in this show is ridiculous. I enjoy the beginning half of the episode. Shows their Kou Empire siblings, but when they got cornered, Sinbad's group came in. It ruins the story a bit for me. It's like when you introduce another elite group to fix this problem. Feel like it's a badly used trope, too.
Magi is one strange anime. It has more breaks than the other Shonen series. It doesn't suffer from fillers. It plays smart unlike the HST which only makes fillers to buy time for their manga to get ahead and make money at the same time. I was shocked but relieved when Magi announces a second season after butchering the ending to the Zagan Dungeon arc. Manga fans really hated the anime.
@bigz007: @Marshal Victory:
Poor Morgiana doesn't get much spotlight. Sometimes I compare this part to Noragami where they had a similar set up of three main characters. Loved Morgiana's power up. It symbolizes her freedom. She was shackled to Jamil and finally, putting her past behind. She's flying free as a bird.
episode 25 season ender.
Good very good over all. Could be subtiled " Sqirt some tears" as it was key for the story . Good animation but a cluttered over powered story. Almost mase for a video rpg. To many characters to care for to. But it ends on a open ended note that welcomes a 3rd season.For a seires that breaks the rules it ended its season much better this over the 1st.
Belive Magi is already in my list but if not will add it.
