@takashichea: I would agree. The focus shift between the town an the raid are not moving the whole story as much as feeling more like filler. It would have worked better spliting the show each week in half maybe? But the animation change may have changed more than just that company. Not sure if same director or not.

@Marshal Victory:

The director is the same for both seasons, Shinji Ishihira. I think we need to check the light novel to see how huge this story arc is. I hit the Wikia since I never read the LN's or any wiki editor had wrote in the wiki pages for our database.

8 was good. Nice flow to the raid. Great conveying information of game mechanics. Good raids are like this. Bad raids are horrid, boring, as well as frustrating.

Wonder if any mmorpg maker will try to make a game world based off of this IP. Much of the hard work is done after all.

If you love Akatsuki, this episode is for you.

9 was good tho late parallel story telling. It tied in with a earlier story line from the city. Not a flashback but parallel story telling. The season has divided into two stories an not one as a sub plot. So something you do not see often any more. An it kind of works. Tho they would have done better with some kind of time stamps to help file the story parts together.

Episode 10 was the speech the one every NEET ( Not in Education, Employment, or Training ) who plays a mmo for years would understand. Tho his guild is a raid guild its more like a family guild. Hard core raiders are just what he was railing about " real" people say an do. They have the same misunderstanding what a game is an if or how you win it. The enjoyment of a mmorpg can be a yardstick of character stat growth or it can be the friends that become family along the way. Very lucky few understand it can be both.

The best part of the speech was talking about how people that are not normally social become so in games. The other side of that is how people who are social in real life become a holes in game some times. Behind that shy gamer can be a good person an behind that social butterfly can be a bad one.

Good episode for people like me who play mmorpgs for years. Not sure how it plays to those that do not.

I felt last week's episode spent too much time on a speech.
Post by Marshal Victory (2,667 posts) See mini bio Level 14

11 had a ton of action to make up for the speech last episode. But the strat part may leave some cold as its very much about cool downs on abilities an timing. Which some raids that is make or break. MMO players will know what its about but if a regular viewer has watched this long they should be up to speed. Tho it still may leave some cold.

Episode 11 was better. I prefer them to speak while they do something. Demikas's background gets more spotlight, and we even see his wife, I believe.

Ep.11: was. a good episode. I was a casual player of MMO's so I never did any raid stuff nor was a high enough level to do end game stuff

12 was end cap to the arc it felt. Less action more why this went on an one huge surprise! Show now has a reason for what they did but I am lacking understanding of why it works. Tho If they did not do what they did the people of the land would never be nothing more than slaves.

Ep.12: Shiroe explains things I don't understand. Also I hope Naogaotsu is the last one to find out Tetra's secret so we can continue to have Tetra troll Naogaotsu

Did they leave a clue on Tetra's gender in past episodes? Because I skip long talking scenes or multi task when watching this series.

Besides having Tetra secret spoiled for me episodes back on a different site there was a episode that explains that players playing as avatars opposite of their real world gender will gradually have their voice and psyche match the avatar they are trapped in

@Wraith:

Oh yeah, I remember that. I completely forgot about that. I remember that scene and thought it was a random tidbit about how the game affects their physiology, more world building stuff.

Thanks.

12 was ok . Bit of light comedy for the episode, tho it almost had a filler feel so to speak.

@Wraith: @takashichea: The phrase is G.I.R.L. which means Guy In Real Life. Some games your forced to play a gender due to gender class lock. But most mmorpgs give you a choice . An odds are the girl you see in game is a G.I.R.L. more often then not. Just always best to assume its a guy at the keyboard.
