To-Do List

Here's a list of things we want to do in the wiki, why not help cross some of them off? Also feel free to make suggestions.

  • Create character pages.
  • Add images and summaries to episode pages.

Important Pages

When editing the wiki (particularly episode and volume pages) it's helpful to use this section as a reference guide.

Locations
When adding locations, don't forget to add parent locations. For example, when adding Japan to an episode or volume, Earth should also be added. Locations appearing in flashback sequences generally don't count.

Recurring Pages: ?

Objects
Objects should be specific rather than general, like Natsu's Scarf instead of just Scarf or Purgatory Armor instead of Plate Armor. General objects are being removed from the wiki.

This had the Sword Art Online feeling. I was somewhat lost in the first episode. Don't know if I missed, but why are they locked in the game. The main character looked like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei's teacher. He has the loner personality like Kirito. I'm trying to not point out that the series has that SAO thing going on. Unlike SAO, this series actually shows more guys. Plus, there is no harem feeling in it so far. I'm somewhat interested in this show.

@takashichea: After watching it its really not Sword Art Online.Similar plot hook tho.Well similar but lacking perma death.Also it is focused more on the mmorpg side even Shows more of stats an classes , mechanics of the games an it UI ( user interface ) .Plus SAO does the time skip chapter jump problem.This so far has continuation .

It is beter than i expected from a old mmorpg gamer standpoint to.Least for me a 11 year player of https://www.everquest.com/home

It is not .hack//SIGN which im struggling to want continue to watch.Think fair comparison would be its Star Wars an Star Trek.Shares some things but really a difrent beast.That sound fair?

The players in the game have no idea why they got locked into the game.

@Marshal Victory:

Like you said, the SAO feeling rubs as I watch the episodes. Damn, you nail everything. SAO abandons gameplay mechanic for Moe and action. Log Horizon focuses on the relationships better. Can't believe that ninja girl is their age. For some reason, I got a Fire Emblem feeling for this show because of the classes. Naotsugu reminds me Gatrie from Path of Radiance while Shiroe remind me of the mages from that genre.

@takashichea: Ack games i dont know a thing about! those console?Im strickly a pc gamer any more .Linked in their game club how this month i got about 40 games/dlc for under 50 bucks.Just can not do that on consoles.

Also have you tried .hack//SIGN ? feel like i have to drink alot when i watch it. so dry .just do not see how it spawned all the sequals.

@Marshal Victory:

That reminds me of the Sword Art Online and .Hack Similarities and Differences. I still haven't tried .Hack.

Anyway, I wonder what happened to Shiroe's old gang especially that girl with the twisted braid.

@takashichea: check this out

source http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/10/21-1/log-horizon-author-answers-4chan-readers-questions

Before they became anime... Before they were published light novels.... Maoyu and Log Horizon were stories that Mamare Touno serialized online on venues like 2channel. So, maybe it shouldn't be too surprising that after an English speaking fan engaged the author to clarify whether Log Horizon's in-series game had a prostitute class, Mamare Touno jumped on the anime board for the anime for the English equivalent, 4chan, for an impromptu Q&A.

It started off...

Regarding some doubts about the prostitute class, the author gave me an answer

"It is a difficult question. Because there are a variety of cultural history."

"Culture, such as "Dayu", "Yukaku" of medieval Japan will help the understanding."

" Alternatively, such as culture and intrigue court romance medieval Europe, the salon you will also help."

" Whatever the case may be, understanding that is a prostitute, it is beside the point."

In any case just check his twitter to see that I'm not BSing you.

Comments include:

"I'm enjoying Kill la Kill and Kyousougiga. And aside from that, Non Non Biyori."

Hello. My editors are hard at work.

The anime is on it's 3rd episode, and I still can't tell if it's popular or not.

(as far as I can understand)

I was a bit worried about having NHK (Japanese state-funded channel) air it.

Does the youth of the world know about current Japanese culture?

Do you know about the most common thing of the past 10 years?

NHK is a state-funded channel. And I didn't want it to have a short lived popularity based around the number of girls.

It was a project discussed in many meetings.

So me being here conversing with the English community is one of the first steps of the anime's success

By which I mean that it reached all of you(≧∀≦)

Favorite character

"Whoever I'm writing at the moment. My favorite characters are always the ones who appear in that scene."

Q: "Can an alchemist create drinks and alcohol or is that only a brewer thing?"

"Both. The number of things they can do increases as they progress. One of the themes is that the world is expanding."

"One of the themes is that the world is expanding

Q: "Do BD/DVD matter or are only tv ratings important?" A: "TV ratings and support from fans, both Japanese and overseas."

It's state-funded, so foreign relations are important."

Inspirations include Everquest 1 & 2, Ultima Online, Diablo 1 & 2 and many other games

Rosegarden Princess is basically a NEET subclass

finally

"I'm sorry, everyone. It's 7:15 in Japan right now. Time for breakfast."

"I think I'll have to call it a day here. Thank you for all your support!"

so of the games he lists i played all but Ultimia Online.An i did not cach he was the writer for Maoyu So that brings me some probly foolish hope that this will have some real depth .Normaly i dont copy a full cross post.But really its mostly all the article "author" does to.

@Marshal Victory:

I just realized Mamare Touno, who created Log Horizon, also created Maoyu. That explains why there is so much detail in the game mechanics in comparison to how much details went into thought about the economy.

@takashichea: ya gona try to temper my enthusiasm an hope.best to not expect much i think.Oh about Shiroe's old gang if it plays out like normal mmorpg groups. the reason for the break up would be .

1: A real death among the players.That can shake group apart.Its not the same with out the one that died.My guild went threw this in everquest actualy many times.

2: another option. loot splits up the group.Some leave for guilds for the bigger better deal.His group sound slike they functioned like a samll faimly guild would ( mine in everquest is like that) good players but like faimly you would claim.When that bond gets split by say people going on to raid guilds that would also fracture the group.If not just some argument over who should get what loot to.

an 3rd: As bittter sweet his memories are of them i have to lean to something tragic or heart breaking.He liked the braded girl. she marries player so an so . They leave the game for real life happyness.

The recent episode had a lot of talking. I didn't mind seeing the Cat man and the little Aerith girl, our healer, in action.

@takashichea: ya in some ways i wish the show had a more realistic animation style . Then again it would remind me to much of Guin Saga since the duelist is a cat man.Who the main character seems to know awful wel.

Really dug how they went over game mechinics to.Many a mmorpg have monks end up being overpowered in pvp.I could see a mmorpg based off this anime to.But their are so many sword an swarcery types out now. just look how long just the fantasy list is here http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/show/all/sCol/genreUC/sOrder/asc

Hey you should join us in the Log Horizon discussion!

Post by Marshal Victory (2,405 posts) See mini bio Level 13

OK for all the people baging on this show that its a SAO clone i have to say at 6 you have the perfect depection of guilds in the mmorpgs.I mean bullseye dead on about its politics how higher teir guilds end up feeding on lower ones. Just the whole episode was mostly wordy discussion on how it all worls an it was perfect.Nothing like this was discussed in depth in SAO ( which i loved ) .Tho it was discussed some.Level of acurate detail here is awsome.

The bigest gripe i have with the show is i wish it had Maoyu grafic style.Other than that id really does a great job depecting life in a mmorpg.How guilds work how the classes work ( in that world) how spells can be combined .It really has the crunchy rules feel to it.

@takashichea: The show on its page should have mmorpg listed in its theme. Similar anime could include .hack , Sword Art Online , Accel World franchises.People forget Accel World an its mmorpg background.Tho it was pvp centric..I know theirs another to but name escapes me atm.

@Marshal Victory:

It's because of the opening hyping all the action. It gives false impressions. I do agree with you though.

Like you said:

Log Horizon does a better job in world building than Sword Art Online. Log Horizon is a different beast. It's more slice of life and slower paced. It explains its game mechanics such as guilds, experience share, and food than SAO.

What would I tell to those folks is that different strokes for different folks. If they want action and cute characters with a haremlike element, go watch SAO. Log Horizon is for folks who love a slow paced show that reveals the beauty of its MMORG.

I caught to Crunchyroll's recent episode. Cooking is just more about how much skill points you have. Both SAO and Log Horizon tackle cooking. I see I need to collect eyecatches. I only have this one.

@Marshal Victory:

This week's episode had Shiroe and last week's episode had goblins. I could get them. Don't worry about it. I'm pretty caught up to Golden Time's eyecatches. Sorry, I have a weird hobby.

Post by Marshal Victory (2,405 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@takashichea: Hehe np .But by most peoples definiton of weird hobby watchin anime would fit .Course pop culture is far weirder an far less quality than anime.
