16 was pretty good. Tied up the arch which was a two episode one. Show really has gone out of its way to capture the sounds an some of the look of the older show. The eye caches are almost the same as the older series. An the title card is now like the old one with the list of suspects an who lived an who died.

This one reminded me of ...

Still on my watch list. I don't know what to say. This should happen. That reminds me I need to watch Case Closed as well.

17 was filler but good filler. Well filler like as it was a one shot episode.

@takashichea: I'm not caught up on case closed as finding the episodes subed has become a pain. Fan subers seem to want to skip subbing the filer episodes. An most filler in Detective Conan is pretty good or at least funny. Funamation has sent cease an desist orders to some of the older fan sub groups. But have not stepped up with their own subs. Just silly they could sub them an at least have the shows on their site.

@Marshal Victory:

Yeah, it's pretty difficult to find subbed Case Closed episodes. FUNimation still hasn't fixed Viz Media's changes to the names despite them being faithful to the One Piece and redubbing the whole series. Why? One Piece is more profitable than Case Closed for FUNimation. Despite fans raging on FUNimation now and (Viz Media prior for localization issues), the franchise doesn't garner much attention in America.

I can't blame folks pirating Case Closed.

@takashichea: Will say this Youtube ones are not that great. Hubuki Subs are awesome but hes just now patching up what others have missed.Guy makes no money off of doing subs just loves the show an the community.

Also the reason that Detective does not gain much attention in America is simple, No legal streams of it any where. Where as Kindaichi Case Files Returns is an is subed an streamed legal. Its just money on the table they are ignoring.

18 has some good an some bad. Bad was it was a one shot episode. Also that involved owl poop , sea water, an math. Good was maybe for the 1st time we see Hindaichi's mother. Longer arcs play to the strengths of the show. One shot of the week does not.

Edit 18 is back to a longer arc stories. An none to soon. The one shots do not build the tension the longer arcs do.

@Marshal Victory:

I guess detective stories aren't popular in Anime Vice.

20 the longer arc goes on an its a good one. Were 2 episodes in an I have no idea. 3 main suspects would be the lawyer, the sister ( tho could say her father to as unseen) an the detective that was the fiance of the girl who died 3 years ago. We know its not the ol man detective cause hes not well that capable to plot an plan this out.

@takashichea: More the shame or rather more the pity for these are great fun. Its nice that there are shows that can still not be predictable an hold some mystery to their stories. An considering this show stays now in the top 10 for rankings its baffling to. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-08-11/japan-animation-tv-ranking-july-28-august-3/.77502

21 tries to throw you that it is the old detective. It would be a big change if that turns true but I doubt it will be.

Not related to the anime. I still got to bump this:

I bet this didn't happened in the anime since these characters are way too young. Did I get the right live adaptation clip?

Post by Marshal Victory (2,545 posts) See mini bio Level 13

@takashichea: As I understand it their has been a few fan made live action ones as well as a bigger tv budget legit ones. One of the strengths of the series is to "borrow" or rift on pop culture be it horror movies or opera.

Episode 22 ends the arc with a few surprises early an then a big surprise tword the end. The arc was way long for a detective anime show sure but its one of the strengths of the show is its long arc's that can be broken down into movie length formats. This one used modern tec in the tricks the killer used.

Really a shame more do not look into this show. Its one I look forward to each week. An serves as a palette cleanser in a way as its less over the top anime action an more like a tv detective show . It always does a good job of not being predictable to.

Ohh 23 rifts on the capture/game horror movies like Saw film series as well as a odd homage to http://www.puzzlepirates.com Or at least that sprang to my mind.

Seems this is the only crossover. Case Close likes to doing a lot of crossover just like One Piece.

24 was good an this looks as a 3 episode arc. since 25 is the who dune it part I think with what I learned its the older woman the hostes bar owner who set it up. Only clue I have is that the others are in debt she may be related to the ones killed. An she did save the girl at the last minute.

edit

@takashichea: wonder if one can get subs for that? If i remember right some of the subers do work on those as well.

25 was the season ender. An looks like show ender for a bit. At the end it did say thanks an see you around so I think it will be back. An filling in the slot will be http://anilist.co/anime/20790 thats my guess. Also was right about the bar owner one of the few times in the series I knew who dun it.

Series over all was a good update of a old series. It was not a reboot by any means but a moder day update. Shame others do not try this instead of erasing all of the good stories that has gone before. For fans of mystery, detective, an suspense can not go wrong with this series. makes my list of average an above.
