Took me a while to find one. This is our third Fairy Tail discussion thread (counting the one I accidentally deleted).

Erza's army of one was cool and a bit slow given a lot of commentary. Plus, it was a challenge to keep typing the plot summary without pausing when I had to add every armor object page we had for Erza.

Oh, Millianna's attire is just lingerie which I don't mind. It's a little weird since Lucy Ashley's outfit was toned down. I wonder the creator and staff prefer cat girls.

In the MFP test, I see where Fairy Tail got their cheating traits from, cough Mavis. Oh, I hate to do this, but I will.

It was definitely stretched out a lot, which was obviously done to pad out the episode so the anime won't catch up with the manga too quickly. At the same time though, it felt way too short in the manga, to me at least. The whole fight was like 2 pages long, it makes me wonder if Hiro Mashima actually had anime padding in mind when he drew that scene. Seeing all the different armour and weapon combos was really cool though, I don't think Erza mixes and matches like that very often.

There have been a few cases where things I expected to be censored in the anime weren't, so I think the change for Lucy Ashley's outfit was more a design choice than censorship. We'll probably never know for sure though.

I wouldn't really call it "cheating" exactly. Fairy Glitter is a Fairy Tail spell, and not anyone can use it so Cana still had to be powerful in her own right. Having Jellal participate under the guise of Mystogan is definitely against the rules, but it's not like Makarov permitted that just to give Fairy Tail an advantage, it was because of the threat at the games. Now Raven Tail on the other hand, those guys are real cheaters.

Last episode was terrible. I was waiting for the fight to start only to find out that they are going to fight in the next episode where Wendy and Chelia are fighting. I know the anime is close to the manga, but come on. You can't slow down the action, but you could have stretch it.

Yesterday's episode is padded with some flashbacks. Laxus's fight was quick but mediocre. It wasn't satisfying enough and it took half of the episode leaving Wendy and Chelia's fight less time. Though, Wendy's fight was entertaining. It's awesome that Wendy got some action, and (if I didn't read the manga beforehand) I would have been surprised Chelia's Sky God magic.

I see some of Natsu's styled moves in Wendy plus she adds status buffs to her attacks which incorporates some of her own style of fighting.

Chelia was strange. She's very happy and carefree after taking a brutal beating by Wendy.

Edit:

Naval Battle

I was expecting another fan service battle, but this episode is a bit serious which I like. Lucy never gets a break. I feel bad for her. Juvia's devotion for Gray was cute and funny, and seeing the anguish faces of Lucy's friends makes everyone support little Lucy. I keep wondering what is Minerva's powers.

Really bummed out this anime is ending so soon. Still waiting on the "good news" Hiro Mashima hinted at on twitter. At least they're getting the next fight in, I've been waiting to see that animated.

I'm sad that the anime is ending soon. Last Friday's episode was pretty random, and I don't want to bag on the anime. They shouldn't spend too much time on Ichiya's story on how he met Nichiya. It was a drag. The funny part of the episode was when Ichiya creep everyone with his smile before crushing Bacchus and Rocker. If I haven't read the manga beforehand, I would have guess the bunny is Nichiya because of how the bunny imitates Ichiya prior to this match.

I can't believe Bacchus who was Erza's equal (according to Erza) lost to Ichiya.

On the bright side, we got to see where Nichiya's stamp is located. I've been writing down info for the Points of Interest sections on where folks have their guild stamps located on their bodies.

Did anyone notice the weird blue thing in this image?

Lyon and Kagura had a cool fight. It began after Millianna's comedic debut where Lyon played to her kitty weakness.

In the manga, they completely skipped over Lyon's fight. I'm glad the anime filled it in. Lyon never had a spotlight battle after his tag team fight with Gray against Racer. Sames goes for Millianna.

I was really happy when I saw the "TO BE CONTINUED" sign at the end of the last episode, I thought that was pretty much confirming the anime would continue...

...then I checked the manga chapter and realised it was just part of the manga. That's pretty misleading. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. As far as I know, Hiro Mashima still hasn't announced his "good news" yet.

It has been 2 years since I watch Fairy Tail. It has been enjoyable. The big "To Be Continued" is a sign of relief for me, and I hope the series resumes and wraps up when the manga ends. Though, looking at Rave Master, Hiro Mashima's other work, that anime was never brought back to life.

Fairy Tail and Rave Master Crossover Anime Coming Soon!
Fairy Tail and Rave Master Crossover Anime Coming Soon!

Manga creator Hiro Mashima announced at midnight on Tuesday that his Fairy Tail and Rave (Rave Master) crossover manga is being adapted into anime. The anime will be bundled on DVD with the special edition of Fairy Tail's 39th manga volume on August 16.

In the crossover story, Fairy Tail's main character Natsu and Rave's main character Haru are lost, so Lucy and Elie —the heroines of both series — embark on a search for them.

Mashima published the original crossover one-shot manga story in the May issue of Kodansha's Magazine Special magazine in 2011. In addition to the material he already created for the crossover manga, Mashima is drawing the original artwork for new sequences in the anime. The new sequences will add Musica and Let, two Rave characters who did not appear in the crossover manga. Mashima posted the animation correction sheet below:

Upon Mashima's posting of Haru's animation correction sheet, Haru's voice actor Tomokazu Seki repeated, "Long time no see." Chihiro Yonekura, a singer of theme songs for both anime, also welcomed the news.

Mashima assured Fairy Tail fans that they can still enjoy the crossover anime even if they have not read Rave yet — although he added that they will enjoy the crossover more if they do know Rave. He noted that he is supervising all parts of the crossover anime personally.

Like Fairy Tail, Rave is another fantasy action manga created by Mashima and adapted into anime. Tokyopop had published the manga under the name Rave Master from 2003 until 2009, when Kodansha ended its contract with Tokyopop. Del Rey then announced at New York Anime Festival in 2009 that it picked up the license. The anime premiered in Cartoon Network's Toonami block in June of 2004. The American television network Syfy then launched the anime during Manga Entertainment's Ani-Monday programming block in 2009.

Del Rey published 12 volumes of the original Fairy Tail manga in North America, and Kodansha resumed publishing the manga with the 13th volume in 2011. The manga inspired a television anime that just ended on March 30 with the words "To Be Continued." Mashima added, "It's actually not over yet. I can't say more than this, but I hope you watch the rerun starting in April and wait for the day I can announce some good news." Crunchyroll streamed the Fairy Tail series as it aired in Japan. Funimation released the anime's fourth part on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in North America in February 2012.

Bringing the new OVA discussion to this thread:

Not related but Hiro Mashima announced a pool OVA

Back in February, Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima took to social media to announce that an upcoming volume of the series will be packaged with a super sexy anime OVA based on the swimming pool side antics of chapter 298. Kodansha has now posted a look at the anime, set to be released with volume 38 on June 17th.

Via Crunchyroll

I've known about this for a while, but it's nice to see a preview video for it. It's pretty cool that this is based on the chapter in the manga that followed the chapter the last episode was adapted from, which basically makes his OVA episode 176.

I've had a strong suspicion ever since Hiro Mashima said the anime "isn't over yet", that he was referring to the two unreleased OVAs (this one and the Fairy Tail x Rave one). Still, if that means there's the possibility of more OVAs in the future then that would be nice.

@takashichea: "The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Blegh, dumb region-locks, they aren't hard to bypass though. Kind of curious about Wendy's dub voice, maybe I'll check it out later.

It's not long now until the new OVA episode. It will be nice to see some new Fairy Tail anime content after so long!

@Daniel_Newton:

I'll try to find a video for your region.

Does this work?

Let me try to describe Wendy's voice. Let's see, her Japanese voice is shy and timid. Her English voice is a bit rough.

Edit:

I changed my mind. Wendy's voice in Japanese and English are both cute.

Oh cool, is online! Want to check out this Funimation clip of Wendy and Carla's voice?

@takashichea: Nah, FUNimation videos don't work in the UK unless I bypass the region-lock. Don't worry about it, I'll watch it some other time.
