Pilot was not bad. Its colorful cyberpunk anime. No evidence of Yaoi in the pilot at least.

Edit: from what I am reading on other sites. Yes it based of a Yaoi video game but the anime is not Yaoi. Much like the Riddle Story of Devil got the Yuri tag but people griped in reviews that it was not yuri..so yeah things are weird all around seems.

It looks innocent, but I watch this series with caution. It was a colorful, animated series which reminds me of either Karneval or Super Sonico.

@takashichea: Good comparisons. 2nd was just as harmless an almost boring. I will try the 3rd before making a drop choice but its slow atm. Some were saying the game its based off of released way before .hack . Which does not mean its not similar to the virtual gene in anime.

@Marshal Victory:

I'm not sure whether to continue the anime. I haven't seen the 2nd one yet. Still at Church. Probably catch up at night fall. Will let you know.

2nd episode wasn't bad. I did miss the part where folks touch his hair, he gets hurt.

@whiskers:

I already did and saw the world of yaoi hentai for the first time. So much stuff I couldn't forget. That was shocking because I didn't read the genre for this title.

At least, Love Stage!! is a more kid friendly yaoi title. I think I like the series, too.

@takashichea: I was teasing a bit, but in reality this is pretty tame compared to real hentai titles. Still, I guess straight guys are a bit sensitive to this stuff. ;)

@whiskers:

Any new titles for the summer that grabbed your attention? For me, it's gorey stuff, Tokyo Ghoul and Akame ga Kill, and then, romance stuff, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun and Love Stage!!. I guess I'm weird and masochistic that way.

Edit:

Oh, I'm watching Black Butler: Book of Circus and Free! Eternal Summer, too.

@takashichea: I told myself I won't start any new series for now, until I catch up with some older titles, but it can't be helped. I'm watching Dramatical Murder and Free 2 (kinda obvious) at the moment, but also G.I.T.S. SAC Second Gig (or whatever the title is), but I want to check out Zankyou no Terror and that new edit of Psycho-Pass. Tokyo Ghoul also seems interesting, but I'm not sure I'd want to get into it right now. I've already made a few mistakes by spending time on shows that are popular among the younger crowd, but they're not for me. I might check out Love Stage as well, if I can squeeze it. Aaaah, I just remembered there is one show I left off in the middle...

Oh really? That's cool. I'm guessing you've liked the first Free! series enough to watch the sequel? I must admit I kind of missed out on the whole Black Butler thing, but I plan to at least watch the first series when get around to.

@whiskers:

It's good you missed out Black Butler. I remember the first season rushed and went into filler territory. The second season was all filler. Drove people who loved the dark yet warm hearted stuff in Black Butler manga nuts.

Now, they finally doing a faithful anime adaptation of Black Butler starting with the best arc, Circus.

@takashichea: I see. So you'd recommend skipping the first season completely and just go straight to Circus?

@whiskers:

Let me check the episode range. Episode 7-12 and 16-24 are all filler for season 1. You should just watch season 1 and skip the filler episodes. Season 2 is strange because it's started a new story to tied up the first season. It is still filler. Then, you should be fine for Book of Circus arc.

If you want to get the full Black Butler experience, I think the manga might suit you better. The Book of Circus arc begins in Volume 6. It's only 5 volumes of reading and then switching it to the manga if you want that route.

In summary:

  • Go with the anime route

Or

  • Go with the manga route then switch to the new anime series.

No problem. One day, you will be doing the same with me and other users when they ask for your expertise in manga and anime.
