@takashichea: She was the one that attacked them after they came out of the fire an explained things. Some said in the manga Sebastian eats her soul to but it did not happen in the anime.

I use this saying alot " No good deed ever goes unpunished." an in a real way the moral of this story is just that. They did dirty work to save the other kids an were lied to an punished for their dirty deeds. Or you can not sale your soul to save others as a broader moral point.

@Marshal Victory:

They ended the anime series without showing the full end of the story arc in the manga. Time for me to read the manga then. I feel we been cheated by the anime a bit.

Thanks.

@taichokage: I watched the anime of D.Gray-man tho never got to finish it. How does this remind you of that? Circus kinda aspect?

The main characters Allen and Ciel are both British. They both have grey hair with a curse mark on their eye. They're both also orphans.

They both had an antagonistic group by the name of Noah. Very unusual. I've only seen that in one other series. They both also take place in the late Victorian Era. The art is very similar and there is a Shounen Ai emphasis on both with unusually soft-looking male characters. Then as you also say, the Circus theme is relevant in both.

The biggest difference has got to be the theme. Black Butler is more of a psychological/mystery series D. Gray Man is more Dark Fantasy. But everything else is strikingly similar.

P.S. Sorry for the late reply. Somehow I didn't notice this.

I caught up to the manga a few weeks ago. The story doesn't move very quickly but it's better later in the series than earlier in the series in my opinion.

@taichokage: No worries an thanks for the reply. Wow seems like their is a lot of similar things. May have to start D.Gray-man over from the start. Been years since I watched it. Seems I have see Noah's circus as a name some where else before to. Comics or tv maybe.

Still I wonder why they did 10 episode short run on this? If the manga had enuff material they should have gone for 12 at least. Seems to their will be a ova called book of murder as well but early reports of it had it tied into this book of circus but that does not seem so from this summery at all.....

"At the Queen's behest, young master Ciel Phantomhive hosts a lavish banquet to be attended by the crème-de-la-crème of London's elite. What begins as a fabulous affair quickly takes a dark turn when guests begin turning up dead! Murder takes center stage in this chilling OVA collection where even a debonair demon butler isn't safe from a killer on the prowl. Should Sebastian and Ciel wish to once more see the light of day, they must join forces with their guests, including the legendary author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to unravel the mystery – and apprehend the murderer before it's too late!" from http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-08-17/funimation-adds-black-butler-book-of-murder-original-video-anime/.77707

Black Buttler always felt to me a black hearted fantasy. The kind with a moral behind its one hell of a butler's smile. In some respects it is a british dark comedy an others a tale of caution. Which is what some of season 2 lacked beside deviating from source material. Regardless I still will buy all this series anime at some point. Ah then should time permit an the coin is available I will buy the manga . Seems its very cheep on the Kindle as well .. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_n_feature_browse-b_mrr_1?rh=n%3A283155%2Ck%3Ablack+butler%2Cp_n_feature_browse-bin%3A618073011&keywords=black+butler&ie=UTF8&qid=1410580855&rnid=618072011

@Marshal Victory: The other place i saw the Noah (in anime/manga at least) was Soul Eater, but the introduction was later than D. Gray man and Black Butler if I'm not mistaken. But I like both series quite a bit. D. Gray Man inspired more series than i think it's given credit for, not the least of which is the character design of Qwaser's Alexander Hell. Pretty much copy and paste of Allen Walker.

@Marshal Victory:

Okay, I was mistaken. I only watched episode 9. I thought I was on ten. HULU is one episode/week behind the Japanese broadcast. Sorry about that.

@taichokage:

That's great to hear. I heard the Black Butler: Book of Murder arc wasn't good.

@takashichea: Ack! Then I spoiled a bit of the show then for you. Thought you had seen 10 an doll just does not look like doll at one point in it.

@Marshal Victory:

No worries, you didn't spoil me much. I figured anyone who committed a sin would die after seeing the massacre of all of Joker's people and the children who they kidnapped. I can't believe they kill flower girl just for the last innocent child to die. The doctor should have lay it low, but he didn't seem to care.

Yeah. I especially liked the last 3 arcs best. Without spoiling, Ciel gets a lot of character development in the latest 2. And the arc before there is probably the highest amount of action so far.

Finished Black Butler. It was nice to get a backstory on Joker's group. The whole arrogance issue was that Ciel knows that he won't save everyone, but for him to not try and save someone's life. That is his arrogance and it will cost him one day. Strange to see the Undertaker watching the event.
