@metalsnakezero: Put it in a pony tail and it'll be all good.

Hmm, can't say I'm the that fond of Mikasa's more dolled up look at the end of ep2 there. It's probably because of the lip coloration and the long hair more than anything else.

I wouldn't worry about that long hair, it'll be gone in a bit.

Oh, right. She's told to cut it. Forgot about that.

Second episode was nice. Pretty good set up so far, the animation is holding up nicely and the Titans continue to be a terrifying force! Couldn't help thinking of the Titanic during the ship boarding scene.. but I guess that's just how iconic that silly movie is.

Seeing as how the Titans don't have phalli, I'm still interested to learn where the Titans came from and how they continue to survive and procreate. I mean.. apparently those gigantic skinless Titan are a new development, since the walls can't hold them back.. So.. something(s) must have caused that development. Perhaps the Titans were created by a group of scientists/alchemists (FMA *cough*) and there were disagreements about whether this was ethical or not, which split the human population into two groups. Those that didn't support the creation of the Titans now live inside the walls, the other group lives somewhere else? This would fit with the whole "cattle" theme that they keep repeating, that to make the Titans you need to feed them humans.

Well whatever the plot turns out to be, I'm glad this series is getting 25 episodes, should be more than enough time to develop a good story.

P.S. Attack on Titan, Titanic.... coincidence?! o.O" yeah probably, haha.

lol Nice to see people on this site actually noticing good anime.

I've been waiting for this anime since last year. The manga is good, but the art sucks.

As AURON570 said I'm happy that this anime isn't 13 ep and is planned for 25 eps.

@AURON570:

I was wondering how Titans reproduce. I was looking at their weird body.

@Whats_out_the_bag:

I read the manga with the anime's pacing since I'm a wiki editor. I can see the manga's art is rough. I think I like Mikasa's looks in the manga than the anime. Her lip color throws me off. I can't look at her eyes. I keep looking at her lip for some reason. It's pretty common since they have to publish chapters on a weekly or monthly basic.

Episode 3 Spoilers

@rubberluffy:

I love Sasha's scenes. She had guts eating right in front of Keith who was thinking what the hell with this girl. Mikasa teasing her was a bit cute, too.

I hope Sasha doesn't die in this show. I got attached to her. Though, Attack on Titan is a brutal series even more brutal than Highschool of the Dead. HOTD wouldn't dare kill its poster girls: Saeko, the pinked hair chick, and Rei due to fan service and popularity. I got off-tangent a bit.

This episode is probably gonna be one of the last times we get some more jokes at Sasha's expense, so enjoy them while it lasts folks.

Though, I wonder how far in the show will actually get in its 25 episodes. At its current pace, we'll be hitting the end without Eren actually going on his first expedition with the recon corp.

Episode 4 revealed some character growth especially for Eren. When Annie talked about how the smarter people will be placed in the interior far from the Titans, it showed how ugly the world is. People in the interior lived a safe life while those on the outer rim lived a rough life where attacks by Titan can happened. Eren's hometown was a lobe on the outermost wall where it pretty much serves as bait for Titans.

Loving Attack on Titan, but I do wonder why the humans didn't make a more effected way to kill a Titan in those one hundred years

@AURON570: The mystery of the Titans is one of the big sticking points for me as well on this one.

Regarding the length and if it will cover enough of the manga to be interesting... I really hope they take the route of giving us a fully fleshed out arc for the series and try NOT to follow the original pacing of the story. I don't mind them not covering the whole storyline (ala BERSERK) but it would suck to have more of episode 3's in our future because that was not nearly as strong as the first two. If I wanted Top Gun with giants I would've... oh, I guess that show doesn't exist.

Either way, still pumped about this one. Something about the horror elements being done in this show makes me wish there was a good anime interpretation of Uzumaki out there. Limited 13 episode show of the short stories from it? Oh yeah, I'd watch that. And then never sleep for like two weeks.

Interesting change of pace for episode 3. It feels like it's taking its time setting up the themes and stuff, which makes some of it feel a little generic and straight-forward. I'm still having a hard time seeing how those web-swinging mechanisms are supposed to help them defeat the Titans. Sure it increases mobility, but you still need a way to do damage! Perhaps it will be something like how the rebel fighterships took down the AT-ATs in the Battle of Hoth? At best it seems like they could harass the Titans by flying around and using hit-and-run tactics. At worst they could just be swatted down like flies. By the sounds of the preview it looks like they are going to have to face a titan next episode, which should shed some light on how they fight the Titans.

@AURON570:

There will be more hints on the Titan's weaknesses in episode 4. In their exercises, pay attention to where they strike on those dummies. They don't explain anything directly. Don't take my word 100%. I'm not sure why they hit on that point.

@Destinyheroknight:

Glad to see you here!

They've already done this with episodes 3 and 4, since the manga goes Opening>Big Red>Mom eaten>Graduation>Ep 4 Wall scene(end of chapter3), while episode 3 and the majority of 4 are chapters 15-17.

About episode 4, I'm kinda sad they left out 1 scene and reworked another from the manga, nothing major but I liked them:

Eren telling Annie that her technique is useful after he used it to defuse the fight with Jean, and her (almost cutely?) remarking that his attempts are terrible and she could show him some more if he wants.

Jean and Eren decide that their different ideals is best dealt with by beating the shit out of each other, and Mikasa stops the fight by literally picking up Eren and carrying him out of the dining building (not in the anime). Eren, Mikasa and Armin talk on the steps outside about their military paths (which the anime included without the preceding scenes).

Other than that, in regards to the end of episode 4:

In a rather crud colored season, this anime is a gem even if every other show was awsome ( an they really are not for me ) .It i think feels beter as a anime .The animation is good but say hollyweird wants to do a live action "adaption"?

/shuder

Yeah that sceen with the mom being eatn just got less scary huh?

@rubberluffy:

I worked on the wiki pages especially the episode summaries. I have noted those differences but not the way you phrase them. I should asked you to take a look at the differences sometimes.

I think they might include Annie and Eren's scene somewhere else since they have rework the series chronologically.

Maybe? It was only like...3 pages, but I think it helps Annie come off as not as...antagonistic as the anime portrayed her. The pacing for episode 4 was pretty tight, it would have been hard to fit it in, I guess.

Japan has a live-action slated for next year. I have no idea how it will go, it was kinda on the rocks for a while but it seems it's back on.

@rubberluffy: Well they might do ok with it , an i hope they do a good movie of it .But hollywood ( as a general thing ) would mess it up. I have more faith in japans movies actualy or even south korea than any thing hollywood could mutate this into.

Actualy on second thought i could think of one director/producer an production company that could do it justice . http://www.screened.com/sam-raimi/14-597/ along with http://www.screened.com/robert-g-tapert/14-476846/ an their production company. They probly could do a decent movie. Which at one point they were gona do a Noir tv series for Starz.

@rubberluffy: LOL took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about. Then I realized that the only relevant part of what you were quoting had nothing to do with my original post. It would have made more sense just to quote the part that you bolded. So basically your saying that the anime has already shifted from the pace of the manga, I think that's pretty obvious...

Post by rubberluffy (596 posts) See mini bio Level 16

@AURON570:

Yeah I was just being lazy, forgot that it notifies everyone whenever you quote someone who is also quoting/replying.

And a reminder to everyone that if you're enjoying this you should watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012) because the person that did Series Composition/Scripting for that is also the one doing it for Titan (Yasuko Kobayashi). Also because it's awesome. Shameless JoJo pimping!
