Actually not a bad Captain Jack Sparrow impression. Surprised by the coolness of the people in this video, that second girl with the blue hair was really gorgeous. Oh and that Roy dude was awesome, he has a natural radio voice!

I guess I'd define "anime" as japanese animation and other media associated with or derivative of it.

That deadpool cosplayer is really awesome, I sorta wish he had come with other people cosplaying as characters from mvc3. That afro guy was a little pretentious, but I think his main point was that anime is japanese concepts, which is interesting. Also, that girl who does a lot of things, her voice sounds familiar...

Anyways good work going around interviewing people Geo!

Sora, you're mispronouncing "Naruto". You're pronouncing it as "Narooto". It's just Na-Ru-To.

Way to represent, Mr. Deadpool.  A mostly insane anti-hero person among... blue haired people, also pirates.

I liked the video Geo. I'm relatively new to the apparent ocean of anime stuffs. It's cool to see what some veterans of such exposure, around this site and at this convention, (I really want to go to one now) have to say about it.

I really like anime, but I think games will always be my truest love. Those 2 interests have similar roots, so I enjoy both for similar reasons.

@craigbo180: I was also impressed by Mr.Sparrow. and pretty much all the cosplayers, it's an awesome expression of fandom with which I am as yet unfamiliar.

@FoxxFireArt: I have it on reliable authority that it might actually be nay-roo-doh, Ok, I actually don't. I'm being silly.

also there was no audio split in this video, if that is worth noting. (there was in the last one, for me at least.)

Nice vid Sora. Not surprising that some people knew more of what to say to answer your question than others. Kind of wish you could have talked to someone from FUNi or Viz or Section23 or Nozomi as well. Roy sounded kind of like jerk with his remarks even though he had good points.

My belief has always been that anime is everything that embodies it. The genres, the art styles, the characters, the storylines, etc. For me Avatar and such are American animation. I would personally like to create a true anime here in the US (still have to get a story done and have a backer). I've had this debate done before back when Tom was answering user questions so that's all I got.

@Rockingham:

Well, seeing how his name isn't being pronounced as "Naroot-o" in the Japanese anime. It's being said as Na-Ru-To. A lot of English companies tend to pronounce hiss if the O at the end is separate from the T. That's not how the language works.

I have no problem watching Geo, I think he does great stuff for the site.

Captain Jack knows what's up "Well there are a lot of girls here, have you noticed that?" "That I have mate. That, Captain always notices." haha.

Deadpool was pretty cruel too.

@Newten:
Yeah Sparrow was pretty good. I might have to show my voice impersonation of him (I don't look anything like him to dress the part).

@FoxxFireArt: Yeah, the first guy to tell me a bit about Naruto was actually an old buddy of mine who is half Japanese and, while he was raised in the US, his parents used and taught both english and japanese. He said if you understand both languages that the japanese versions were always much better, that often things got screwed up in translation, he explained to me about Naruto's old catchphrase in one of the english dubs,"Believe it!" and how that was pretty poor. He said something about the bit in Japanese just meant to put emphasis on something, is how he explained it to me.

The way he said Naruto always threw me off until I've started watching stuff like this myself, I have a decent grasp on romaji pronunciation but, yeah, certainly don't understand it nor could I write/speak anything with it. I do have an old Japanese Rosetta Stone thingy my younger sister let me have, maybe I should eff around with it some more. =P

In regards to anime, I guess I just sort of notice that there are ideas that are distinctly Eastern, and among those ideas are ones distinctly Japanese. I certainly have no formal exposure to any of those concepts, but there's enough philosophy/history literature laying around to read the gist of it.

I have always been in love with the aesthetic that is modern anime or Japanese art, even when I didn't know it's origins. Some games and shows had a 'look' that I really liked, was really all I could articulate about it growing up.

I never thought to ask where those awesome looking single edged swords came from or what it was about Vincent Valentine that made him look ethereally beautiful to me or why some had names (Ryu was a mind blowing one to discover its real pronunciation =P) that didn't pronounce like English words, etc etc.

Many years later, I am just now exploring my fascination with those things and I love most of what I've found. If for no other reason, at times, than it looks really neat to me.

He was very in character and I found that pretty awesome, the first pirates movie was the best in my opinion

@AURON570: @Newten: Thanks!

@craigbo180: Roy is actually a voice actor.

@sotyfan16: I wasn't there for more than a day so it was hard, I didn't really meet a lot of people in the industry that weren't in Funimation.

@UchihaSasuke:

How is he being "insufferable"? He's just asking a question. If you're going to mock the man like that. Least you could do is actually explain your reasoning.

I see anime as Japanese animation, using a unique style of story telling, character design and behavior, and  a charm that can't be done by other media.
Nice video btw.

Was that a Tomoyo (from Clannad) cosplay at the 5 minute mark? I just saw the silver hair and black headband and what looked like a Japanese school-girl uniform.
