Amy Stapleton is the tactician and midfielder for Team Satomi along with her cat Luca
Amy Stapleton was born in America in 2035 and is of Irish decent. She was born into a rich lifestyle but it is shown that she lived a very isolated life since her parents were always away on business trips. As a result, she grew up emotionally neglected and raised by the staff of her parents estate. Amy tried to come up with ways to keep her mind off of her loneliness and took up studying to do that. Through this, she became a child prodigy and it is rumored that she finished college at the age of seven. Some time before the series began, she met Luca and became close friends with him since.
Because of her intellect, she proved to be an amazing tactician and was drafted on to Team Satomi with Takeshi Jin and Liz Ricarro for the position of midfielder. Since she is not the strongest on her team, her mech has an uplink that lets Luca co-pilot with her, giving him a voice that she can understand even though she can understand Luca outside of the mech too. By working with Team Satomi, she was able to move up through the IG-3 and IG-2 and was drafted into the IG-1 for the 2049 season.
Amy Stapleton was originally created by Koichi Mashimo for the mircoseries in which she was a weapon deliverer that worked with Luca. For the anime series, she was changed by Mitsuru Hongo into what she is today. She made her first appearance in episode one of the anime series. She is voiced by Ryoko Ono in the Japanese version and Hynden Walch in the English version.
When Amy first started in the IG-2 and IG-1, she was more reclusive than her team members. Whenever Takeshi and Liz fought over anything, she would try to break up their fighting. It is shown though that Amy feels extremely lonely and thinks that Luca is her only friend. Amy tries to hide how she is feeling by withdrawing herself but she finds solace in her team members as she opens up more and more to Team Satomi. By the time her birthday rolls around and she assumes no one remembers, including her parents, the team surprises her with a party for her birthday. By the time the group enters the 2049 finals against Team Velhstein, she acknowledges that she is not as strong as the other two but her talents lie in strategy as she knows her friends, her surrogate family, are there to protect her.
