In the first anime, Kimblee first encounters Alphonse as he attempts to duel Martel. Later on, during his dying moment, he turns Alphonse into a slow-reacting chemical bomb, saying that he is doing so in order to give Alphonse "time to think about his death, and reflect on how meaningless his efforts have been." In the manga, Kimblee first meets Alphonse alongside his brother Edward at the headquarters in Briggs. There, Kimblee takes Winry Rockbell along as a hostage, to blackmail the Elric brothers into cooperating with the Amestrian government. Later on, as Alphonse captures Pride in a prison made of dirt, Kimblee comes to Pride's rescue, and Alphonse finds that he has to fight against both of them.

Wrath is a homunculus that was created by the failed human transmutation of Izumi Curtis' child. Izumi seeing that what came back is not her child, she gave him to the gate only to regret it greatly. Wrath manage to free himself after along time.
