Appearance

Noveno Espada Aaroniero Arrurerie

Aaroniero Arruruerie is a tall, near-humanoid male Arrancar with a glass cylindrical capsule filled with red liquid and two orb-shaped floating heads with the number 9 tattooed on them. The two heads appear to have some degree of individuality but have a tendency to speak in tandem while he is in his true form, thus giving the effect of two people speaking in turns.

The upper head speaks in a deep tone of voice while the bottom head speaks in a high-pitched, almost child-like tone. Aaroniero tends to cover his face with an elongated mask covered with eight holes whenever he has to venture out into the light, this is not his true Hollow Mask however.

The remnants of his true Hollow Mask can be found on both of his heads. The upper head has 3/4's of the mask covering it while the bottom head only as half.

Though Aaroniero's uniform is customized like the rest of the Espada, he does not wear the standard issue white jacket and hakama like they do. Instead, Aaroniero wears a body-covering dress garb with a frilly nobles' coat and two white gentleman's gloves.

History

In the beginning, Aaroniero Arruruerie was a Gillian-class Menos with a very unique ability that allowed him to absorb other Hollows into himself, therefore gaining their powers, abilities and memories. Because of this he ended up becoming the first Gillian in existence who was able to become equal in power to an Adjuchas-class Menos without actually having to evolve into one.

At some point in history, Aaroniero also consumed the corpse of Metastacia, one of Sosuke Aizen's failed attempts at creating a Hollow/Shinigami Hybrid, and not only gained his powers and abilities but also those of a former Shinigami Lieutenant named Kaien Shiba, whom Metastacia had fused with prior to his demise.

In addition, Aaroniero gained total control over Kaien's Zanpakutō Nejibana. After Aizen learned of Aaroniero's unique abilities, Aaroniero was transformed into an Arrancar and became a member of the first generation incarnation of The Espada alongside Dordonii Alessandro Del Socacchio, Circucci Thunderwitch and Gantenbainne Mosqueda.

Unlike the aforementioned first-generation Espada, Aaroniero was the only one not to be demoted to the rank of Privaron following the arrival of more powerful Espada such as Staark and Barragan Luisenbarn.

In the present day, Aaroniero was first seen when Ulquiorra Cifer and Yammy Rialgo returned from Karukura Town following a reconnaissance mission to gather vital information concerning Ichigo Kurosaki's current status as a Shinigami. Aaroniero was also present for the "birth" of Wonderweiss Margera.

In the wake of Orihime Inoue's kidnapping, Aaroniero was seen sitting between Tia Harribel and Yammy when they attended a meeting with Aizen, Kaname Tosen, Gin Ichimaru and their fellow Espada that concerned Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryu Ishida and Yasutora Sado entering Hueco Mundo to save Orihime.

When he saw the three of them for the first time, Aaroniero complained alongside Barragan, Szayel Aporro Granz, Nnoitra Jirunga and Yammy about the "so-called threat" that these three "children" posed to Las Noches. It was during this meeting that Aaroniero was heard speaking for the first time with two voices, one being low-pitched and the other being high-pitched.

After the meeting it was presumed that Aaroniero returned to his quarters, as Aizen had ordered, while waiting for one of the intruders to come to him. Ironically enough, that intruder was none other than Rukia Kuchiki whom he appeared before and told her to follow him.

Upon doing so, Rukia ended up in his quarters which was nothing more than a large and dark empty room, it was here that Aaroniero removed his mask and revealed himself to be Kaien Shiba. He claimed that his reasons for bringing her to his quarters was because Aizen could see everything in the false "sunlight" of Las Noches.

Though it took a bit of time, Aaroniero was able to deceive Rukia into believing that he was truly Kaien by explaining how Metastacia was engineered to return to Hueco Mundo upon the event of his death and that because "he" was fused with Metastacia at the time of his death both of them were sent back to Hueco Mundo as one merged entity.

He then conjured up a lie about how "he" was in control and was making Aizen and all of the others believe that Metastacia was in control so that he could plot revenge against Aizen. The lie was more than enough to solidify the idea that Aaroniero was truly Kaien Shiba in Rukia's mind.

Unfortunately, the erratic behavior he is known so famously for by his fellow Espada ended up betraying him when he sliced Rukia with Nejibana after claiming to be her friend, suggested that she kill her friends and bring their heads back to him in order to earn forgiveness for killing him and also would constantly switch between joking and being serious at an alarmingly fast rate.

Rukia immediately came to the realization that Aaroniero was a liar and attacked him, however because Aaroniero was in possession of all of Kaien Shiba's memories he had complete knowledge of all her techniques and was able to exploit their weaknesses and use them against her.

When Rukia noticed that Aaroniero was running from areas where the sunlight began to shine through as small portions of the walls and ceiling broken during their fight, Rukia used a Kido spell to bind him against a wall so that Aaroniero would be forced to remain in the sunlight once she opened a massive hole in the ceiling.

This caused Kaien's face to "melt" away, revealing Aaroniero's true face or rather faces behind it and gave Rukia total confirmation that Aaroniero was not Kaien. Because of this, Rukia had finally found a reason not to hold back while fighting Aaroniero anymore.

But when Aaroniero explained how he acquired all of Kaien and Metastacia's powers through his unique nature as a "hollow-eater" and that even though it was Aaroniero's mind who had total dominance, the body of Kaien Shiba he was using to fight against Rukia was his true, genuine spiritual body and not a copy.

This revelation tore Rukia apart, as she had always believed that by killing Kaien she had saved him from the enemy.

Having been rendered into a dejected state of being which left Rukia without the strength or the courage to use her sword against Kaien's body by the realization of her failure, Aaroniero released his Zanpakutō and impaled Rukia with Nejibana.

Though Aaroniero believed he had won, Rukia's memories of the true Kaien Shiba spurred her on and so she used the last of her energy to stab Aaroniero top face. By doing this his glass container cracked open and both heads fell out and the rest of their body crumbled to dust. With the last few minutes of their life the bottom face died screaming in agony while feeling betrayed by Aizen's promise that he would never feel pain again while the top face on the other hand died cursing Rukia's name and then his head split in half.

Powers and Abilities

Expert Swordsmanship Specialist

Because Aaroniero had indirectly absorbed Kaien Shiba through his consumption of Metastacia, he became a highly-skilled swordsman while in the midst of fighting Rukia Kuchiki, during which he revealed all of Kaien's techniques and form. Rukia describes them as "His upper-body stance. Spear technique reminiscent of a dance, using one wrist as the center of its rotation. Then crushing the opponent between the spears thrust and the rising waves."

Broadcasted Sight

Aaroniero is able to telecast the information to any Arrancar of what he sees at any time, using this technique.

Sonído

Aaroniero can use Sonído to move around at extreme speeds.

High Spiritual Power

Aaroniero has a rather high amount of spiritual power that allows him to mimic the levels possessed by Kaien Shiba. So much so that he is able to use Nejibana, Kaien's Zanpakutō, with presumably the exact same level of spiritual energy required to wield and use all of its abilities.

Zanpakutō

Aaroniero is unique amongst all Arrancar and Hollows due to the fact that he owns two Zanpakutō, one of them being Nejibana, the Zanpakutō that once belonged to Kaien Shiba, which he can use in either its sealed or Shikai forms by using Absorbed Power Manipulation on his other Zanpakutō, Glotoneria.

Glotoneria (喰虚 (グロトネリア), Gurotoneria; Spanish for "Gluttony," Japanese for "Eating Hollow") is the name of Aaroniero's Zanpakutō and, while sealed, it takes on the appearance of a deformed arm-like appendage with many sprouting tentacles. He always hides Glotoneria under his right sleeve when he is not fighting or has activated its released form.

Activated by the release command "Devour", the released form of Glotoneria transforms Aaroniero's lower body into a blob-like mass that almost resembles an incredibly bloated cartoonish-looking octopus with dozens of stubby tentacles and mouth-like mask pieces.

Special Abilities:

Hollow Absorption

While it is common knowledge that all Hollows can cannibalize one another to gain more power, Aaroniero has the unique ability to completely absorb other Hollows into himself which not only merges their extra power with his own but also gives him their individual abilities. Because of this, Aaroniero can evolve without limit, unlike normal Espada, and therefore has the potential to become near-Omnipotent.

Body Possession

This ability, which Aaroniero gained by consumed Metastacia, allows him to merge his own spirit body with other beings, including Shinigami.

Aspect Manifestation

After absorbing a Hollow, Aaroniero is able to manifest any aspect of them at will, including their physical form. To date, Aaroniero has consumed over 33,650 Hollows and, thanks to an unusual set of circumstances, one Shinigami. It is because of this ability that he was able to become an Espada without first evolving from a Gillian into an Adjuchas first, it is also the reason for being able to use Kaien Shiba's powers. However, it is not full-proof, Aspect Manifestation has one major weakness: sunlight, which nullifies Aspect Manifestation upon contact and forces Aaroniero to revert back to his true form.

Absorbed Power Manifestation

While sealed, any power that Aaroniero has absorbed through Glotoneria can be manifested into a perfect approximation of the power he absorbed, which is how he is able to access Kaien Shiba's Zanpakutō Nejibana. When Glotoneria is released it is still able to manifest the powers of those he has absorbed in his form, but there is no set limit as to how many powers he can manifest simultaneously.

Mimic Knowledge

As mentioned earlier, whenever Aaroniero absorbs a Hollow into himself he gains their memories both from their minds and their muscles, this allows Aaroniero to perfectly mimic any battle styles of the powers his victims once used, a perfect example of this ability was displayed all throughout his fight with Rukia Kuchiki when he was using the body of and pretending to be Kaien Shiba.
