Sounds crazy.  Maybe I should check out the first movie some time soon.

I love how 80% of the video was just <BEspoilerEP>...
Excuse me as I go and what the first movie....

My question is was it good? I noticed everybody was confused and creeped out but I never heard a possitive review of the movie....

@sora_thekey: I haven't watched the second movie yet (picked up the DVD yesterday), but I think it's hard to call a movie in the middle of a trilogy "good," because its purpose in the greater scheme of the films is to essentially hurtle you to a level of desperation to get to the climax in the third movie. So it's really hard to say "man, that was good" to the second movie, as opposed to seeing them all as a whole.

That said, 20th Century Boys in general is awesome.

I was there (and I'm in the interview somewhere, lol), and I quite liked the second movie. It has a bit less of a compressed feel than the first movie, and it doesn't drag nearly as much as the first movie did in places. it's interesting watching all the plot points start to come together here, and the ending leaves you with a kick that has you DYING to see the third movie!

Third one is totally awesome by the way. I saw it during the simultaneous Tokyo/San Francisco world premiere week, and it absolutely blew my mind. It has an alternate ending that was written by Urasawa, and while I know this sentiment might get me crucified, I think I liked the movie ending more than the manga ending. It required a bit more of a stretch of thinking for the movie ending to work, but it felt more satisfying to me than the manga ending. Of course, being 20th Century Boys, ANY ending is something of a letdown because it's been so wonderful that there's a kind of profound disappointment inherent in the simple fact that it's over.

PS: If you're going to watch the third movie when it's back at New People, and they don't act like idiots and cut it out from the rescreen, STAY AFTER THE ENTIRE CREDITS. It has an extended after-credits ending that's like 10 or 15 minutes long. You wouldn't want to miss that!

@lanaswift:
The Empire Strikes Back was way beyond good. Than again I suppose it is the exception.

@Hanyaan: Hey you. Grats on your first post! We talked about it at greater depth on the podcast, but I was reflecting back and feel like the longer I let the movie sit, the more positive my reaction was to it.

Like, I walked away feeling good, but kinda devoid of the same excitement  I had in the first. Though, now I think back and fondly remember a lot of the tone and moments.

Darth Vader is Luke's "fanboy"!  He pretends to hate Luke, but he actually collects all of his merch; even the fan-fic!

SPOILERS! And I finally got around to watching it too. Well, I've had it for awhile, but I needed one of the "VHS" thingies to play it on.
YOU'VE RUINED IT. I hope you're happy.
